I am fairly new to the board, so maybe this term has already been coined, but I think the word "Mopologentsia" is apt and is a subset of Mopology. The term is a play on the word "Intelligentsia" which was coined in Russia in the late 1870's. The Mopologentsia would include the Mopologists and all of their followers, or those who prescribe to their way of thinking.
the term "Intelligentsia defined a type of publicly active Russian intellectual. The Intelligentsia were a distinct group of people whose professional identity or public function were no longer described by the traditional categories of the Russian social structure into which they were born, nor did they fit the categories of the state's own rankings and definitions of state service.
Now apply this same definition with a few tweaks to Mopologists and their followers: The Mopologentsia are a distinct group of Mormons whose religious identity or public function are no longer described by the traditional categories of the LDS social and doctrinal structure into which they were born (baptized), nor do they fit within the categories and definitions of accepted academia.
Think about it. Mopologetics fly in the face of what the church has taught and they contradict church leaders. They do not fit within the traditional confines of the LDS church. Here are a few examples of where they no longer fit the doctrinal category or social structure of Mormonism:
- Steel swords in the Book of Mormon = wooden clubs inlaid with obsidian shards to the Mopologentsia
-Horses in the Book of Mormon = tapirs to the Mopologentsia
- Hill Cumorah in NY where Joseph Smith retrieved the plates = some other hill called Cumorah in Mexico to the Mopologentsia
- facsimiles and definitions of Joseph Smith papyrus published in the PoGP by LDS church = Not the actual papyrus used for the PoGP translations and the definitions for the Mopologentsia.
- Lamanites cursed with dark skin and became Native Americans = curse of darkness not related to skin and is metaphorical to Mopologentsia
- D&C 132 commanding Joseph Smith to take virgin brides for raising up seed = Joseph Smith never had sexual relations with his wives to the Mopologentsia.
-Whitewashed LDS church manuals and CES material encouraging members to not stray from manual to find information = The church doesn't hide things from members to the Mopologentsia.
There are plenty of other examples where an LDS prophet or doctrine clearly state one thing and the Mopologentsia believe it is metaphorical, misstated, or means the complete opposite of what was stated.
As far as academia is concerned, the Mopologentsia do not fit the accepted norm either.
- The Mopologentsia destroy the scientific method by leap frogging all the way to the conclusion and then try and cram it into the box even if it doesn't fit.
- The Mopologentsia's definition of "peer reviewed" is not even close to the actual definition or purpose of a peer review.
- In the real world a CPA isn't qualified to perform open heart surgery. You don't have to have the proper academic credentials to be considered valid by the Mopologentsia i.e.: Schryver = ancient Egyptian expert when he is a computer programmer, DCP has a Middle Eastern languages background, but is a expert of Meso American archeology, and etc.
- True Academia writing focuses on facts, references, and prescribed research methods to debate a concept. The Mopologentsia find attacking the messenger instead of the message as a valid way to refute a point instead of researching and addressing the actual message.
No wonder the Mopologentsia got the boot from NAMIR. 1. Their philosophy doesn't align with mainstream Mormonism. 2. Their academic approach does not align with the scholarly methods set forth by accredited universities.
All who sustain the term Mopologentsia please do so by the raising of your right hand. Are there any opposed?

You have successfully introduced the term "Mopologentsia", described its etymology, and justified its adoption as a term in the lexicon.
As one should always do when they learn a new word, I will be seeking out opportunities to use it whenever possible.

I tried to introduce the word "stembilism - a whinge or a whine about whinging or whining" but nobody seemed interested...
