Note the fallacious appeal to numbers and self-contradicting argument "mike" presents, and his use of the persecution card as a riposte:

Cults do not have 14 million members in over 100 nations, and cults do not have a world class university, as exhibited in a recent NYT piece. Cults are not run by 30,000 separate congregations where church leaders are drawn from the congregants and rotated in and out every few years. As to Mormonism, the church does not control what one wears or eats. The church has a code of dietary health, yes, but I am the decider of whether I choose to accept that code. I do so, and I know some that do not. There are a variety of Mormons just as there are a variety of Catholics. The fact that Haglund still wishes to remain on the Mormon rolls despite his disregard for Mormon tenets is proof of this. It does not appear that anyone has tried to control him, though he may have felt that Mormom tenets didn't afford him a lifestyle that he wished to pursue.

How many members/congregations must a cult have before it stops being a cult?

I am not so sure you want to go claiming having no professional clergy, (drawing leaders from the congregation), means you aren't a cult. ISKCON (hare krishnas) don't have professional clergy and draw their leaders from their membership...

Don't follow the word of wisdom, no temple recommends. No temple recommends, no endowment, no temple marriage and no celestial kingdom... You're right WoW is voluntary, but you miss out on all the claimed benefits of the church if you don't follow it and don't get a temple recommend...

If you keep repeating this, it won't become any more 'factual' than your other opinions.
