Now that Mitt is outta the public eye, so is the church. They can stop pretending to be normal and get back to the business of being a cult without worrying about backlash or hurting Mitt. I predict the following:
- Randy Bott reinstated at the Y
- Statements that caffeinated sodas are "OK" redacted. BYU students who started "bring the Dew to BYU" protest expelled or threatened into silence
- Twede's court of love and excommunication back on ASAP
- John Dehlin exed
- Pesky NOM attitudes reigned in at the Ward level.
- Joanna Brookes finally told to put a lid on it.
- BKP's conference talks no longer need to be edited to hide homosexual bigotry
- DCP and friends welcomed back to MI. Old school apologetics and LGT encouraged
- Performing baptisms of the dead for celebs and historical figures back on.
- Church openly encourages and fights same sex marriage ballot initiatives in next election cycle.
- No more wasted money on deceptive ads of tank top wearing women and long haired men with earrings living "hip" wordly lifestyles while proclaiming "Im a Mormon..."
With Mitt's loss, LDS is free to do a 180 on the following

Nothing's changed. For example, the Church's official doctrine on homosexuality has been up for quite some time:
Same Gender Attraction
Same Gender Attraction
Machina Sublime
Satan's Plan Deconstructed.
Your Best Resource On Joseph Smith's Polygamy.
Conservatism is the Gospel of Christ and the Plan of Salvation in Action.
The Degeneracy Of Progressivism.

Interesting post.
Let's see what kind of a prognosticator you turn out to be on these issues.

DrW: "Mistakes in science are learning opportunities and are eventually corrected."

Can you give your list to Dick Morris and have him opine? Whatever he says, we will know the opposite will occur.

I too am worried for my TBM family, that clamps will come down and blinkers up.
I wrote this 2 months ago, i have not seen anything to make me feel more optimistic since then:

What worries me is what is going to happen after your election. There seems to be restraint on all sides pending the election. Regardless of the outcome, after November, the gloves can come off. And the shutters come down. The free and open exchange church members have been having with the rest of the world online - the "big tent" Mormonism, with testimony bearing feminists and gays and scholars - I can't see it being allowed to continue. I am worried that by the April conference, the people will be reined back in, there will be new restrictions, "bars" will be set higher.
Based on some of the comments in the media over the past few days, I think if Romney doesn't win, a number of christian "allies" are going to turn on him and the church in a feeding frenzy. The "persecution" will be used as confirmation of "truth" in some TBM minds. This happening at the same time the church authorities are attempting to reassert total authority could get really nasty.

By that standard, you could give any information to Fox News and ask them if it was true.
