Would this Policy end Mormon Church Attendance
If the Bishop was to have all electronic devices confiscated at the entry door of the chapel before sacrament meeting, priesthood meeting and gospel doctrine class, would attendance fall?
Oh, and no pens, pencils or paper for you old timers.
My vote is Yes.

I don't attend any more either, but any attempt to force me to pay attention to the drivel being spewed over the pulpit would result in my immediate departure.

Two things:
Shades' does not read links he makes you post, nor get the polling aspect of the site fixed.
It has not worked for ages

Thanks for that. I thought it was something wrong in my browser settings or Ubuntu.RockSlider wrote:off topic

My bishop told us not to use mobile e devices in the building and it didn't stop us. No, I don't think it would affect church attendance too much. If you are so bored that you find yourself playing Angry Birds at church, I think your days of activity are numbered anyway.

It works fine for me.

There's a work-around that worked for me at least. It requires changing one's board style.
From the "User Control Panel", if one selects "Board Preferences" and then changes the "Board Style" to one of the alternatives I've found it allows me to post in a poll.
I think my original setting was "Revival" which I've changed to "subsilver2". But I find it doesn't always work either, but will work if I change it to "prosilver". I can't stand that display style, though, so I have to feel a desire to post in a poll to make the change and then back.

Re: the OP -
I think one would be hard pressed to find an institution or social organization today in the US that wouldn't suffer from that policy. Hell, if a movie theater (thinking of a place most people seem to wish other people didn't have their cells with them and out) had people lock their phones in safes and gave them back after movies I'd bet theaters would see a marked decrease in attendance. On top of the bad press.

This would just be one more area where the church intrudes and attempts to control members lives. I am surprised this hasn't been tried yet.

Anyone with a sick relative or a small child at home with a baby sitter is not going anywhere that refuses to admit cell phones. At a movie theater you can silence your ringer, but still get the vibration.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
