The first time around, someone claiming to be an attorney specializing in cyber-crime urged Ostler to knock it off with these antics. I guess the message didn't sink in?Blake Ostler wrote:Here we are back to cowards willing to belittle and make false and questionable assertions to knock down someone getting more recognition than they are. Blake Ostler Levels Additional Threats on "Faith Promoting Rumor"
I'm quite certain that a number of folks here haven't yet forgotten Blake Ostler's memorable appearance on "Faith Promoting Rumor" last year--it was enough to earn him a spot on last year's Top Ten list. As you'll probably recall, Ostler's appearance resulted in deleted comments, Ostler issuing ominous threats about unmasking posters' identities, accusations about Ostler's alleged hair piece, and Ostler mistakenly saying that Louis Midgley had died. Well, it would seem that Ostler has now come round full-circle to issuing threats once again:

This seems rather ominous. Who wants to deal with the spirit of the late Lou Midgley?Blake Ostler wrote:Give us your name so we can compare your credentials and publications. No matter. I shall invoke the spirits of YahooBot Crockett and the late Lou Midgley to find you, then I shall send two rather large Tongan missionaries to beat the gospel into you and make you rue the day you messed with Blake Ostler!

As the new kid on the block with Cassius U., I would be remiss were I to not mention how powerful our Dr. Scratch comment is on Faith Promoting Rumor. I appreciate his tireless efforts to keep us up to date on the John Gee travesty. Stop by my office Dr. Scratch and I shall toast you with a very fine bottle of Ste Chapelle Soft Huckleberry Chateau Series (Vintage 1975)! It's an Idaho brand, the vineyards are west of the capital, Boise. All faculty are invited for the appreciation swig.

This is a fundamental, excellent, concise article helping us determine if something is peer reviewed, and why that matters. From this alone, and now, thanks to the comments of actual experts on the subject John Gee's biased book concerns, we can see why his book was pulled off the shelves. The Mormon version of peer reviewing having to be "faith promoting and testimony strengthening" is obviously not peer review, it's merely inbreeding.

For a guy who wrote actual volumes on philosophical Mormon thought, Blake sure has a lot of anger about the idea of engaging the merits of ideas without a person to attack. Does he really imagine his credibility grows by such petulant tantrums?

Are you sure this isn't sarcasm. Seems to me it is. Ostler has always been above the fray and riffraff. I can't stand his writing but that says nothing of him as a person. Many like him.

Doctor Scratch may be able to provide more background, but I am pretty sure it isn't sarcasm.Bought Yahoo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:42 amAre you sure this isn't sarcasm. Seems to me it is.
