Missionary reports on Todd's visit

Post by _CameronMO »

I got this email forwarded to me by an old friend. This friend will occasionally forward me emails that he thinks I might find interesting. This email, written by the local missionaries to all the members of his ward, caught my attention, so I thought I'd share.

The Elders wrote:Brothers and Sisters,

The missionaries in this mission recently had the opportunity to hear from Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. When he spoke to us, he emphasized and re-emphasized the importance of the Book of Mormon in spreading the Gospel. Referring to his background in law, he stated that if he were in a courtroom and the task was to prove that the church was true, he would walk up to the judge, slam a copy of the Book of Mormon in front of him, and say, "Your Honor, exhibit A!"

The rest of the email is omitted.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

I would just lay a copy of the Quran on top of the Book of Mormon and walk away.

I thought that if I were in a courtroom and the task was to prove that Hobbits were true, I would walk up to the judge, slam a copy of The Lord of the Rings in front of him, and say, "Your Honor, exhibit A!"

But then I thought that I'd love to be the opposing party in Todd's fictional case. I'd print out the Book of Mormon Translation essay and mark it as Exhibit B, a picture of the seer stone and mark it as Exhibit C, and the DNA essay marked as Exhibit D. I'd then admit them into the record and ask for Judgment.

I mean, Todd should have been an outstanding lawyer, right? I've thought his professional credentials were pretty good. And this is what he comes up with? But I guess you play to your jury.

I wonder if the iStone had to be unlocked by an Apple employee an angel before Joseph Smith could surf the Universal Wide Web...

Yet another example of the dearth of Book of Mormon historicity proof. Toddy boy is forced to mingle appeals to authority with theatrics to make his case. As you said earlier, being on the other side of his legal scenario would be the better side to be on and would win on summary judgment, if not earlier.

Hey Prodigal Son! Very good to see you back! You have been missed.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
