My personal opinion (not backed by any studies), baby boomers and 3rd world countries were the reason for growth in the 80’s. Boomers will go down as one of the most gullible generation. If there was ever a “Snake Oil” generation, surely it’s the boomers.

They may have been the Woodstock generation but they didn't need any safe rooms when someone challenged their opinions.
