Re: SeN promotes a bad scientific conclusion re Covid
Lemmie,
I'm in shock. I did *NOT* see that response by Sam coming at all. There is absolutely no response that he can give to get himself out of this major embarrassment. Even if "he knows things", the article he cited did not support his position at all and in fact, looks nothing like anything other than he misread the article. He would have been better to cite nothing at all, and go the DCP route of "knowing things", rather than link to that article.
Here will be the litmus test of Mopologetic burying of the head in the sand:
if Kiwi57 upvotes Sam's comments to Ryan, then it's all over.
I say that because in the past, Kiwi has offered some of the best interpretations of Covid data that I've seen in informal venues, and in opposition to the right-wing nutcases on SeN, and so I know that he knows Sam and Mr. Midgley are full of crap on this one, and while he'd never have the integrity to counter them for the sake of truth and public health, the question is whether he will sign his name on that dotted line to Old Scratch and sell his soul for the cause.
I'm watching, Kiwi57 -- prove me wrong, buddy, prove me wrong.

To quote Dr P recently, “I know things.”
Yes, agreed, Dr. Pasterson does know how to lie and plagiarize.

LOL! Wow! The sheer idiocy over there is remarkable, and the entertainment value of watching DCP trying to save face is very high indeed. I notice that he hasn't retracted the false claim about brain damage, nor has he even noted that it's straight-up *wrong*! So, as we speak, his blog is peddling false medical information. (And weren't he and Peter Pan recently yukking it up over something similar related to Jonathan Neville?) He's trying to stay "above it all" by just quoting Sam LeFevre (and doing it without LeFevre's permission, no less). This is one of the most significant screw-ups I've ever seen on "Sic et Non," and that's really saying something.

Re: SeN promotes a bad scientific conclusion re Covid
Here’s a very recent literature review on neurological effects of COVID-19. Not surprisingly, it says that longitudinal studies need to be done to assess permanent effects. It’s too bad, because what the guy wrote was good and necessary right up to the last paragraph.

Report this crap to the Salt Lake Tribune, that the Program Manager of Environmental Health is a nut and is pushing bad science.

Better, yet. Reach out to Deborah Wood Neklason:

Or perhaps:
Navina Forsythe, Director Center for Health Data and Informatics at Utah Department of Health
And get this Sam guy back to reality.

Clearly not supported? A lot of things in medical science are not clear. It is unclear if Vitamin D deficiency is bad for you. It is not clear what causes type 2 diabetes. Just because something is unclear doesn't mean it is clearly not a concern.

Re: SeN promotes a bad scientific conclusion re Covid
Notice how Sam had a meltdown when Fred Kratz posted something; he accused Fred of accusing him of being a "bad scientist" (or something). Fred clarified he'd never said such a thing, and Sam responds with a haughty:
But there will be no backing down from his insane claims. No "hey, my bad, I misread that" or anything.
This one-way-street attitude where others are encouraged to apologize to him but he's never made a mistake of material significance reminds me a lot of somebody else I know of...
Lol!Very good. I'll believe you, and let this stand as the correction

Now you wouldn't be just trying to get back at Lemmie, would you DT? ;)DT wrote:Clearly not supported? A lot of things in medical science are not clear. That isn't the point. Murkiness or concerns about future findings aren't the point. The point is that a clear and precise claim from the article was totally misrepresented. You can't just say we can go ahead and misrepresent a claim in an article now because maybe in the future it will be overturned.
