Had God ever actually been with BYU football?

My memories of my beloved Cougars on the field are of moments of excitement and optimism, followed by crushing disappointments. The one exception was BYU's consensus national championship in '84... But, that isn't proof that God was with them, even then. After all, every single year some team wins it all.

BYU football and basketball are going to be rocked and bitch-slapped in the Big 12 unless the teams move a bit farther away from their construct of God and begin to recruit and retain some key players who don't currently fit the school's Honor Code profile.
