The wealth of Mission Presidents

That's been my personal observation, as well. I've known a fair number of mission presidents, and none of them profited financially from their service. In at least two cases, I'm aware of major financial losses that occurred. One of them mentioned to me (very plausibly, from what I know) that his departure from his corporate position to preside over a foreign mission probably cost him scores of millions of dollars. He laughed, commenting that the Lord was trying to save his soul.

At a minimum, this man claims to have lost 40 million dollars while serving the church. And was so deeply affected by this loss that he was able to work it into a self deprecating joke, likely at some sort of cocktail hour with other church sycophants.

This is not even at the general authority level. These are the middle level managers of the corporation talking about losing tens of millions of dollars as if it's nothing.

Of course. These millionaires are only taking a few hundred thousand a year. They’re very Christ like, giving up so much material wealth.

The contrast with Catholic priests who actually try to devote their lives to Christ is just staggering. Pretending to be a follower of Christ and actually attempting it are two very different things.

The Catholic Church has its fair share of corruption at the top, but the Mormon church barely bothers to hide that it’s a corporation masquerading as a religion solely for tax advantages anymore.
