Does mercy rob justice in any theology?

Would any Evangelical say that mercy "robs" justice?

I highly doubt it because all believers in an omni God must believe God is perfectly just and perfectly merciful. By definition mercy can't rob justice and nobody would say otherwise, and so the verse is tautological and useless.

It's possible the person who wrote that verse was trying to poke at "grace alone" but if so, it's not that obvious to me, and even if it is, by taking a cheap shot and mischaracterizing the opposition the opposition easily just shrugs and says what I said, that nobody believes that.
