In a word: Evidence
That's it. It all comes down to evidence. You either base your thinking on it, or you just believe--untethered, unimpeded by the lack of evidence.
Apologists try to shill an explanation to questioning members as though science and reason really explain and buttress their professed faith. It [sic] does not. By definition, faith is the antithesis of science and reason. Apologetics is a further deception by faith peddlers to keep power and influence.

Are your beliefs untethered?

If I had the time and resources, I would create a mirror version of Interpreter which uses the same tactics to defend the church of Scientology and all of its insane theology.
Because using Interpreter’s tricks and tactics, you can prop up any idea you want. The truth never enters into it or hinders your endeavor.
Realizing this is a very important step out of Mormonism, to join the rest of reasonable thinking human beings who rightfully dismiss Mormonism’s truth claims.

Re: In a word: Evidence
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
