Kind of weird for DCP to take this claim seriously. Maybe just a weird attempt to drum up some drama around the release?Dr. R. D. Pennypacker: I have seen an early -- and admittedly pirated -- version of this film. There are moments of stilted dialogue. And the pacing needs improvement But overall, the film is effective at what it is trying to be. I applaud it for that.

DRDP: "I have seen an early -- and admittedly pirated -- version of this film."
I'm wondering how this was possible, since I'm unaware of any version of the film that is available online. And I'm also wondering whether you're in favor of the theft of intellectual property.

Well, if you really saw "an early version," perhaps those purported problems have been rectified.
You really shouldn't trust pirates or reward or honor those who profit from piracy.

Dr. Peterson -- I can assure you that no money was exchanged nor has this person profited. This person is an art lover and self-described film nerd. Their interest is purely academic.

If it really happened, it would still be theft of intellectual property.

Dr. Pennypacker,
Did the film confront the uncomfortable fact that one of the reasons Joseph ordered the destruction of the Expositor was to hide his practice of polygamy?
I know it was an early version you watched, but what was the run time and how would you rate it, from 1-5 stars?

JA: "Did the film confront the uncomfortable fact that one of the reasons Joseph ordered the destruction of the Expositor was to hide his practice of polygamy?"
You can ask me such questions, JA. Unlike DRDP, I've seen it several times, including its most recent iteration, and no theft of intellectual property was involved in my having done so.
The film alludes to plural marriage but does not explicitly connect it with the Nauvoo Council's ordered destruction of the "Expositor."
JA: "I know it was an early version you watched, but what was the run time and how would you rate it, from 1-5 stars?"
The film runs approximately two hours. And it seems particularly brazen and obnoxious to ask for a rating of an illicit, pirated movie on the blog of one of the principal people from whom the movie was illicitly pirated.
Please show a bit more grace and class.

The mental compartmentalization that goes into being against the theft of intellectual property, but also being a serial plagiarist must be fun.

Indeed. The irony is that pirating a movie doesn't also involve implying you made the movie. The Serial Plagiarizer has one up on the brazen and obnoxious in that respect.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:33 pmThe mental compartmentalization that goes into being against the theft of intellectual property, but also being a serial plagiarist must be fun.
Maybe Peterson is looking for a kindred spirit.Peterson, whose repeated plagiarism constitutes ongoing theft of intellectual property wrote: ...And I'm also wondering whether you're in favor of the theft of intellectual property.
