I think Elder Oaks sees it as clearing away the dead wood so the orchard can thrive

…which is supposed to be done by Jesus at the Second Coming but oh well

I honestly don't know who Nemo is. Sounds like some influence, youtuber, podcaster. Don't really know. If he can market this to his benefit, then good for him. And maybe this was the goal all along. I don't know. There's a reason why I've never donated a penny to Dehlin.

I am podcasting on that very thing at 6:00 this evening MT!
I have to see this!
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”

I knew he shouldn't have done that episode on pre-Columbian horses. Nemo committed the cardinal sin of showing a tapir online.

Whatever happens, it won't change anything. There are now thousands and thousands of active Mormons on social media that are critical and shining a much needed light on various church practices.

If the church is stupid enough to excommunicate Nemo, his online presence will only grow bigger and he will become more influential. Long gone are the days that excommunication actually served to silence someone.

I'm old enough to remember when DCP proclaimed that excommunication would probably serve to silence John Dehlin and reduce his social footprint. How did that turn out, DCP?
I thought all the Anti-Mos were all happy when people leave the Church.
Now you're upset when they do.

You should start a business like F.A.R.M.S. and DCP's Interpreter Flubnation.
Resell old books with expired copyrights then claim Joseph Smith was an idiot about geography.
It's a non-excommunicable enterprise.

It's Scripture + Plus.

I agree. I watched the video of his testimony and thought to myself that he had just pounded the final nail in his Mormon coffin. As with John Dehlin, I am convinced that Nemo the (ex-)Mormon will go from strength to strength. More specifically, the LDS church in Great Britain will probably diminish even further, both in numbers and in influence, despite the hedonistic campaign to engage in a massive series of erections.
The cynic in me thinks that Nemo cares more about changing the church than maintaining his membership. And the church cares more about saving face than it does about ministering to a member in need.

In other words, Nemo the Mormon isn’t really a Mormon in the same way that the LDS church isn’t really a church.
Good points. Thanks.

The Church is so bad at PR. They're going to be a 1 million member church with 1 trillion dollar trust fund in a hundred years.
100? More like 10.

I saved plenty of penny for the Primary Children's Hospital. Not so much for tithing.

On Hulu, millions of Americans are watching The Secret Lives Of Mormon Housewives which follows a group of Mormon women drinking, getting arrested, infidelity, gambling addiction and swinging. Also, famous BYU quarterback Bret Engemann is one of the husbands and it is mentioned more than once that he has an alcohol addiction and is constantly drunk. Bret used to be the poster boy for Mormonism when he played at BYU.

Their TikTok group "MomTok" is approaching 1 billion views, but as far as I know, not one of these women (or Bret Engemann) have been invited to a court of love. Instead, Nemo the Mormon, who pointed out that the size of the temple is not doctrine has been invited to attend a court of love?

The Church has officially jumped the shark.
