In my opinion it is. I'm sorry for your loss.
Yes, it seems pretty clear there was 'a Mormon point,' as the quotes in many posts have demonstrated. The only thing that can be done now is try to avoid future similar occurrences. Pointing out that the Mormon mind-set contributed significantly to the gross negligence does that.

Yep. And most reports neglected to point out the Mormon issue and the fact that they were leaders of a Mormon MLM scheme.Marcus wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:11 pmIn my opinion it is. The thing that is new is the comprehensive video about the pilot, the timeline, and his utter stupidity ignoring everything around him. Hence the video linked in the original post.

Once again, screw you.
(I actually wrote “screw” knowing that if I had used a different word, it still would have read the same. Funny thing as I don’t they automatically edit out “cunt.” So, apparently, “F” < cunt on the offensive meter here.)

And I understand that my use of “cunt” will likely be edited because I suspect that’s potential so much more offensive to some than using a tragedy, a real tragedy with people who are still hurting, to make some stupid Mormon point.
What’s worse than a faithful, self assured and self-righteous Mormon? A self assured and self-righteous ex-Mormon.

It's a pretty neat trick calling the founders of the Kyani MLM scam "involved."toon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:19 amSo if someone is X and involved in Y, then Z can be attributed to that.drumdude wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:17 pm

Yeah, they were involved all the way to the bank.
I'm sure they were great guys though, scamming all those people out of their time and money. Real pillars of the community, if you measure one's worth by the amount of money tithed to the LDS church.

Ok. Nobody said anyone was a great guy. It was a damned tragedy. Full stop. There is blame to go around. But you are not acting in good faith. There are people who are still really hurting about this. You gloating over their graves doesn’t advance anything. Don’t be a JD Vance in doubling down on stupidity.drumdude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:27 amIt's a pretty neat trick calling the founders of the Kyani MLM scam "involved."toon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:19 am

But are you saying that because a couple on that plane were involved in some MLM scam, that this and their mentality and their Mormon A-type mentality led to what happened? Theres a logical disconnect in that argument. If X and Y (forget the word “involved”), doesn’t mean Z.

You're right. If a raging alcoholic kills their family crashing their car on the highway, there's not a logical connection that they were drunk. It's entirely possible that they actually had a stroke and were completely sober.toon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:31 amOk. Nobody said anyone was a great guy. It was a damned tragedy. Full stop. I'm sure the personality of this Mormon MLM founder had nothing to do with his actions, and was completely out of character. He was probably the nicest MLM founder, and probably was friends with the nicest drug cartel leader.

I think I understand what you are saying, there are MLM scammers who are not Mormon even though Mormons have an affinity for that sort of thing. Charles Ponzi was not a Mormon and never owned a plane much less lived in Idaho.
Many Mormons got involved with Shaklee, Amway, Avon, Mary Kay, and Tupperware. However, I wish more Tupperware distributors were around since I want to buy some lightweight microwavable bowls. That would suit my senior cooking style.
Those two children aboard were doomed to not survive due to sitting in the aisle thus not having seat belts, otherwise, children seem more resilient to crashes.

We can say with certainty that the pilot was reckless. Taking off in those conditions, against professional advice = reckless.
We can also say the pilot was arrogant. He took off because he thought he knew better than everyone else.
We can also say that the pilot was negligent towards his family. Risking himself is one thing. Risking his whole family is on an entirely different level. Risking them in a situation where he’s been advised not to take off, where he’s overloaded the plane, where he’s got children sat in the aisle without seatbelts because there are too many people on the plane. Well. That’s criminal. It’s manslaughter. It’s reckless endangerment.
Then you’ve got the other adult family members who could have persuaded him to not take off, or to refuse to board the plane under such conditions. They also have a level of culpability.
This isn’t a little mistake. Going slightly over the speed limit because you weren’t paying attention. Had the pilot lived he should have gone to jail for a very long time.

Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I know a lot of type A people. The only ones I know who killed themselves and their own kids in preventable accidents (due to extreme recklessness) were Mormons.toon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:50 pm
It's not exclusive to Mormonism. Type A personalities are not exclusive to Mormonism. I suspect nobody contests that, but I'm not even sure that it's more prevalent in Mormonism than elsewhere.
Mormonism is BS. But let's also deal with it for what it is, instead of spitting on people like I'm seeing here.
