This is pretty crappy. I am sad he is leaving. I would have preferred to see him thriving and happy in Zion.

I will say it again: go get a PhD, Boylan. Apply to grad schools. Go where you get a fellowship.

You will be much happier for having done that.

I'm not qualified to judge (meaning that I'm going to do it anyway ), but from what I've seen of Boylan's writing I'd be surprised if he is really capable of PhD-level work. Of course, I've seen only a small part of what he has written, but it's on a public blog on which he describes himself as a scholar.

It's been a while since I looked at his blog, but from my memory I have to say that in my opinion he doesn't write well, and I would expect a high level of writing skill to be a sine qua non of PhD studies.

A lot of what it takes is tenacity. I don’t know what he would be like in the situation, of course, but lots of people manage to get a legit Ph.D. from somewhere. There must be a divinity school or religious studies program that would have him for the Ph.D. I bet he would make it through.

Crowned by the Midnight Mormons as the most important MoPologist of our era, Robert Boylan has unfortunately struggled to make ends meet in the home state of his adopted religion. Apparently the LDS church and its billions, and the More Good Foundation and its millions can’t afford to pay Bobby’s meager apartment rent.

Some of his latest posts seem to indicate that he got a new job with Scripture Central but ran into visa issues and so is going to go back to Ireland to work remotely. It's likely he took a pay cut when he was fired from B.H. Roberts/Mormonr and picked up by S.C.

Also, I have seen some comments congratulating him on getting engaged. So it looks like the church provided him with a wife before he had to deport himself before the government did it for being unemployed on a work visa lol.
