One should think that anti-Mormon bigotry among MAGA Evangelicals would be a bigger concern among Mormons right now.Philo Sofee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 5:16 pmAgreed entirely. If there are Mormons who side with Bondi, they obviously don't realize she and Trump are enemies #1 against freedom for missionaries to go out into the world. It's astonishing ANY Mormon would side with Trump, but also accept Bondi? Good Lord I now feel it incumbent upon me to PRAY with all my heart for those Mormons that the Holy Spirit (FOR REAL) will at least begin to guide them for crying out loud.
If they'll come for comedians and health care, religion cannot escape the Gulag.

Can you honestly be a staunch MAGA Trump supporter and believer, and also be a temple recommend holder? I ask on the basis that MAGA/Trump seems quite a long way removed from Christian values.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 11:23 amOne should think that anti-Mormon bigotry among MAGA Evangelicals would be a bigger concern among Mormons right now.Philo Sofee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 5:16 pmAgreed entirely. Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

There were ca. six hundred Nazi Mormons in WWII (Branch President Arthur Zander was one), so I should think that these folks will not find their temple recommend in jeopardy.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 11:45 amCan you honestly be a staunch MAGA Trump supporter and believer, and also be a temple recommend holder? It's been a few decades now, but I don't remember a temple recommend question being whether you follow and act upon your own conscience. In fact, as I remember the questions, they did not include whether you follow the 2nd Great Commandment to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. So, no, there should be no impediment to MAGA Mormons getting temple recommends as long as they can answer a few pointed questions about belief in Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and the LDS Church--and about being a full tithe payer.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 11:45 amCan you honestly be a staunch MAGA Trump supporter and believer, and also be a temple recommend holder? Well there’s “Do you support or promote any teachings, practices, or doctrine contrary to those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?” Can the support and promotion of MAGA be considered in line with Church doctrine?sock puppet wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 10:12 pmIt's been a few decades now, but I don't remember a temple recommend question being whether you follow and act upon your own conscience. Mormons need an alternative to embracing fascism.
