Today is an unusually thickly-scheduled Sunday for me.) I'm seeking a quotation -- really just a phrase -- from President Nelson in which he refers to death as God's assurance that He will not abandon us here, or leave us here, but will bring us back home to Him. Even if I find it, it won't be a major part of what I write, but I would love to incorporate it. The trouble is that I've been unable to find it. I'm not inerrant, but I'm pretty confident that it comes from President Nelson. Does such a comment ring a bell with anybody out there?
Russell M Nelson wrote:The aging process is also a gift from God, as is death. The eventual death of your mortal body is essential to God’s great plan of happiness. Why? Because death will allow your spirit to return home to Him. From an eternal perspective, death is only premature for those who are not prepared to meet God.

Russel M Nelson wrote:If the body’s capacity for normal function, defense, repair, regulation, and regeneration were to prevail without limit, life here would continue in perpetuity. Yes, we would be stranded here on earth! Mercifully for us, our Creator provided for aging and other processes that would ultimately result in our physical death. Death, like birth, is part of life. Scripture teaches that “it was not expedient that man should be reclaimed from this temporal death, for that would destroy the great plan of happiness.” To return to God through the gateway we call death is a joy for those who love Him and are prepared to meet Him. Eventually the time will come when each “spirit and … body shall be reunited again in … perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame,” never to be separated again. For these physical gifts, thanks be to God!

Russel M Nelson wrote:Our limited perspective would be enlarged if we could witness the reunion on the other side of the veil, when doors of death open to those returning home. Such was the vision of the psalmist who wrote, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”

I bet he's very, very surprised right now.

My bet’s on no surprise. But your point is a solid one.

If Christianity is true, he's probably more than a little reassured that he won't have to toil forever. He will find comfort in being in the presence of God and Christ, which is sufficient - making all the bodily materialist visions of Mormon heaven busywork seem silly in hindsight.

If there is annihilation, then he won't feel a thing. Mormon heaven is one of the worst outcomes, in my opinion.

He was greeted on the other side by L. Ron Hubbard?
