Hats off for Beastie. Her discussions of and about the Book of Mormon should have been preserved.
Beastie was one of the all-time greats.

So many people’s perspectives I miss encountering regularly here.

DrStakhanovite, and is unmatched knowledge of philosophy. Darth J’s absolutely brilliant mind, and steel-trap memory. Blixa’s incredible knowledge of history and her ability to unravel the human element in events. The Dude’s mind-blowing knowledge of biology, DNA, and his razor sharp wit. Runtu’s empathetic and unique perspectives, and engaging writing style. CKSalmon’s unparalleled patristics’ knowledge. Chris Smith’s ability to recall historical information, and synthesize new information into new and unique perspectives. DrW's ability to put complex thoughts and concepts into terms which I could readily understand.

I could go on (and on, and on, forever). So many people whose generosity of knowledge, and kindness towards me, have left a lasting impact.
Oh, wow — so many good people with great thoughts! I loved Mercury appearing like a flash with his acidic wit, and then there’s Wade offering his humble opinion.
Wade..........OH.........JUST............WOW................ I have actually heard he has left the church.......granted, may be a vicious rumor, but I'm not sure.

No way! Really? He was so stubborn.

Not the first or the last. My belief that aggressive apologists have all but left. There are a handful of exceptions, I'd probably agree Migdley is fully in the boat. Generally though, it's like, that aggression is of the same kind as an alcoholic getting triggered when told he has a drinking problem. Online, there is an additional gripe, salt is added to the wound if the apologist thinks the critic(s) are less intelligent or education than he, and isn't qualified to judge.

And then there’s Pahoran—a truly colorful character who’d grab an old metal chair from the cultural hall and try to whack someone with it.

Was Pahoran known by other handles? R McG, for example?

Yes. And Kiwi57. He was always looking to be unpleasant.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I was never really convinced that Pahoran was an actual person. I just couldn’t quite believe someone could actually be that way in real life.

One of the long-time members of this board - Jesse Pinkman, I think - started an alternative discussion group with membership by invitation. I don't remember why I, a relative nobody, was invited to join, but I was and did. However, when I discovered that Kiwi57 was an honoured member I left. I don't know if the group is still going - anyone?
