"In 1842 the temple endowment is first introduced. Joseph spends much of the rest of 1842 in hiding from mobs. In 1843 the very first sealing was performed in the Nauvoo Temple: Emma and Joseph. He could not wait."
Are the leaders in the LDS church this ignorant of their own history, or have they learned to use the apologist tactics? "The very first sealing which was performed in the Nauvoo Temple is what I meant!"

Most likely? Ignorance. You have a lay clergy all over the place who don't actually study their faith, are surprised by the smallest of controversies, and who are completely floored by the existence and contents of the Gospel Essays.
I think Fanny Alger received the first sealing in the hayloft.
By the Gift and Power of Joe's Holy Priesthood no doubt
Now the Church has members kneeling at the altar, but the original sealing involved laying on a pile of hay.
The hay would be preferable to all those with knee pain or who enjoy a rustic setting.
I think it was from this initial sealing that the expression, "roll in the hay" was coined.
Emma Smith was responsible for a popular song, The Weight, performed by The Band.
"Take a load off Fanny,'
And put the weight back on me."
It really says all one might need to know about the motivations of Joseph Smith’s foray into the principles of eternal marriage. It seems he didn’t run towards Emma with the good news, to share his excitement about being forever bound to the elect lady herself, that she would be the first pioneering woman to receive this choice earthly blessing.
He had to try it out on several others first, and failed to mention it to his dearest Emma.
