Re: A big hello
Bob,
Thanks for the advice and your honest comments. I'm sure there is value to what you've said.
This board offers Three Degrees of Glory, so to speak. I love and appreciate how I'm able to mock the temple down in the Telestial Forum under the rules Shades has set up. My private corner is open to the public! Please allow me the privilege and freedom to do that! It is my right as a human being to express my feelings and thoughts about the temple in any way or manner I see fit. Indeed, I've gone from one extreme to the other -- having been formerly very devoted to the temple rituals and the symbolism associated especially with the Endowment. But my eyes have been opened and I have come to learn that it's a C U L T practice and mind controlling religious rites to keep order and maintain obedience by all those who prescribe to the ritual. Thus, I want to do my part to hurt it. I want to expose it in my own way as a contribution to the earth as one who has lived on it and experienced what I have so far done.
You are welcome to peruse my threads in the Celestial Forum. I seem to be able to go up there and type away and express things without much interruption and I don't mind that. I have things in mind and I want to make a splash! I have something special planned for idol worshipping Latter-day Saints. The Church is evolving and changing and it's happening rather mysteriously right under everyone's noses and they don't even know it.
Thank you for recognizing my contributions in the Book of Abraham as it relates to Egyptology. I really don't care about getting published and that doesn't move me. I have said what needs to be said on those websites down in my signature and will say more as I feel moved to do so.
Welcome to the board and feel free to say whatever you like. I'm not going to deny that I've behaved like an ass on the board, many times. But it's been so much fun! It's part of living in the NOW and letting yourself be who you are and express yourself in the moment. If people don't like me they don't have to click the link and can chose to ignore me. I'm okay with that. But, I truly believe that I bring a special kind of spice to the board and my input is sometimes very much needed.
There. I guess that will do. I may sit down now.

Re: A big hello
Some posters here can be harsh but I don't think of Philo Sofee as especially so. Perhaps I just don't notice.
Telling another person, "You need to be a better person" is a little arrogant in my book, though, Bob. Who made you the judge? Is this really a Mormon thing after all, priesthood holders rebuking lesser mortals, right arm held to the square? My never-Mormon eyes are bugging out a little now. It's a little weird. I'm used to people saying how they feel, and asking for understanding, not telling other people what they need to do.
Concerning respect for the LDS Church or lack thereof, I think of the admirable statement by J. Reuben Clark, "If we have not the truth, it [what Mormons think is the truth] ought to be harmed." Almost any religion is like that: if it's true it deserves immense reverence but if it's false it's a shameful thing. Joseph Smith, for instance, doesn't seem to have been an ordinary respectable citizen in anyone's book. He was either the Prophet of the Restoration or a serial sexual predator who got away for years with a pious con. So anywhere he doesn't get the reverence due to a prophet, he's not likely to get even the respect due to a decent human being.

Hi Bob. Pleased to meet this incarnation of you.
he/him
When a Religion is good, I conceive that it will support itself; and when it cannot support itself, and God does not take care to support, so that its Professors are oblig’d to call for the help of the Civil Power, ’tis a Sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out who he/she is. It's not rocket science.
There are some very smart people on the board and Bob has given us all kinds of wonderful clues.
Or ask the Ouija?

Re: A big hello
It doesn't really matter to me. If he wants to be Bob, he's Bob. If he wants to identify his past nicks, that's up to him.

Re: A big hello
Would it be too big a clue if I were to claim him as the brother of one of my parents?

Well, it shouldn't be too long before Philo responds.

Re: A big hello
Ah Bob, welcome! Shall I be an asshat like Lou Midgley and threaten you that I will find out who you are and out you and expose you for being such a pansy assed coward for posting under a pseudoname like Mormon apologists claim? Shall I threaten to come and personally visit you as the old wrinkled dork did to Gina Colvin?Bob
Philo Sofee/Kerry, I will chastise you as I know you personally. You are a pure Jerk since your change of beliefs, and you owe your friends and associates respect and a huge apology, who do the best they can in their circumstances, and with the constraints of their beliefs on them, with the exception of how they aren't all that honest about evidence the way Hauglid is. They are bound by their beliefs that keeps them from being truly open minded and truly unbiased. You don't need to be the way you are about your new beliefs. You don't need to mock your friends because of your new beliefs to get browny points on this forum and build yourself up. It doesn't just come with the territory, my dear friend. You have to choose to be an ass, and you have. And you ought to dignify your self because of your accomplishments both before and after your change of beliefs. I don't care or give a d**n if you are "angry." You are "angry" so-called because you want to make yourself out to be accepted here and that you are trying to get the praise of men. I would be ware of the pride that you have fallen into, even if you never change your beliefs back. Even if you no longer seek exaltation in the LDS heaven, you ought to carry a more exalted and dignified attitude because of who you are. Your entry into the great and spacious building has cankered you. You need to be a better human.
Good to have you here. I am who I am and what I am. I don't try to get brownie points from anyone. I honestly think you will enjoy it here as you see just how truly weak the Mormon version of a Jesus gospel actually is. I found out through evidence, and yes, I lambast those who honestly know better and I know they know, but they cave to the "Brethren" in authority since they are paid apologists. I have no respect for such dim wittery anymore. Not gonna happen. I owe what I know to the readers, not some special gang bang group think without using my brains as I did as an apologist.
That all said, I'm looking forward to reading your contributions and possible discussions. No anger from me to you. Aren't you glad I ain't doing a ridiculous Lou Midgley hunt down? That man is a total embarrassment to Mormonism.
See ya out here soon!
Best,
Philo Sofee

Re: A big hello
Bob, do you think the new Fair/Kwaku/TitS videos convey the level of dignity and respect you desire to see on this message board?
