Why do you think God would need our love -- or us to love him -- in his church?
Opps... I should have clarified what I consider to be God.
Basically, I am a pantheistic, nature religionist, so my idea of God is really... the Source of all existence, and everything that exists. (Since I consider them one and the same).
In other words, when I think about loving God, I think about loving the universe, the earth, the creatures that exist, the grandure of our world, everything that has emerged in this amazing story...
With this comes a reverence and humility of connectedness and unity.
