Hmmm. Maybe they're trying to recreate sacrament meeting online, where boring and uneventful are considered virtues.

This *is* a peculiar move, however, and I kind of have to wonder about the thinking that went into it. Of course, as we all know, the More Good Foundation was somehow related to that "The LDS Church monitors over 1,500 anti-Mormon websites" posting, and also the the MGF---via Allen Wyatt---was behind the "savegrantpalmer" cyber-squatting fiasco. It'll be interesting to see how things evolve. I, for one, am curious if they will allow posters such as Bond and The Dude to participate. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I used to get regular check-ins from the MGF folks. Does that mean I've graduated to "anti-Mormon" status?

And the Dude and Bond will be about as welcome as Michael Quinn would be at a BYU marriage seminar.

Uh no....I was banned (along with a whole slew of posters from here) for my (in)famous "Joseph Smith's Wives Shoutout Thread".....ah good times.

Ah! Right, okay---so, this was that forum that actually fired up some time ago. I see now. Well, it *is* interesting that they are getting a shoutout on MAD. I recall that Jerubaal, and perhaps a couple of other people, were looking to fire up an Internet search engine that would produce only faith-promoting materials. Kind of a scary thought, in my opinion. Perhaps these far-out-there TBMs should construct their own version of Biosphere, so that they don't have to contend with the "evils" of reality.

I think someone has already done that. Heaven forbid you ever run into anything that causes you to reconsider your conclusions about the world.

I suspect that the purpose of the new board is to provide a place for troubled members or investigators to ask questions about problematic issues, and be provided with the apologetic response without having critics point out the myriad flaws in those responses.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Have you ever tried to google "Young Women Conference"?

PS.
It's Onlymormon.com (or .org... I can't remember which).

That's right. I knew I'd seen that before. It's like sending the Internet to EFY.

Well, if so, that would support the theory that the very existence of MAD actually does more harm than good.

Judging by the reaction of the founder of the MAD board and others to honest, questioning Mormons, I would guess that you're wrong. People who ask those difficult questions will most likely be labeled trolls and kicked off post haste.

Actually, that is an excellent point. So what *will* the new forum be for? I cannot legitimately be for questioning LDS, since, as you point out, these people will be torpedoed ASAP. Is it going to be a kind of "testing ground" whereby the Mopologists can systematically determine which sorts of questions they can handle vs. which they cannot?

Theory?? I think we have enough evidence to upgrade that one to "Law" Scratch.
