Can a moderator please delete the information on his wife and children? I know that this is information that “can be obtained via the internet,” but I think it’s in very poor taste to post it on a message board.
This makes “Mr. Itchy” look like “Mr. Rogers.”
Shame.

I would appreciate it if you deleted the material about my children.
No kidding. How many times have I tried to warn you about your children and the internet? Are you really so naïve you didn't realize people can find out this sort of information from just your name? And now do you understand why many of us refuse to post with our real names??? I've always been serious when I told you I hoped, for your kids' sakes, that you didn't encourage them to do anything on the internet with their real names.
It really doesn't have to do with hiding - it has to do with basic safety - safety 101.
And yes, I agree that all the information should be deleted. Bob's family has nothing to do with his particular internet silliness.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I think I understand the point of this thread. Apparently, anon is trying to illustrate for Robert why posting anonymously is often justifiable. The fact that Robert doesn’t like people listing information about his kids, could in effect trigger something in him to post anonymously in the future.
The fact is you never know what kind of weirdos there are out there, anon included. He didn’t need to post information about Robert’s children to make his point. He could have simply said he had access to information about them, because Robert chooses not to post anonymously.
A true story about me that some of you might remember. Back in 2000 on my angelfire website I had uploaded some photos of my sister’s kids. The owner of exmormon8.org, which he called “I hate Mormons Inc” had photo shopped the pictures with speech bubbles above their faces. One of my nephews was sporting a swastika on his forehead and my little niece was saying something about how a thought of Joseph Smith made her poop her diaper. They were all under the age of four at the time.
Little did he know, those children belonged to my sister, who was Baptist, who was occasionally just as anti-Mormon as he was. And she threatened a lawsuit against him for doing this. Needless to say, he removed the pictures.

Or a thread could have been started that said:
"Because you have used your real name on this board, I have been able to track down the following details:"
Then descibe the type of data he found, without actually posting the specifics.
Then said: "I could have posted it into this thread. But I won't. My point is, anominity can be a good thing sometimes..."
Still making the point. But a tad more ethical I would have thought...
EDIT: Sorry, posted this before seeing your second paragraph! ...ermm, yeah -exactly :)
