Outdoor physical activities are superior to the XBox, Shades!
People need physical exercise and fresh air. They don't get those sitting on their butts playing XBox. We have no game systems in my home and no computer games. I intend to keep it that way.
Now, go play outside! I am. I'm off to hang a pinata. :)
I don't know how anyone can even stand to look at Dallin Oaks for more than a few quick blinks. The man is rapidly mutating into some kind of demon (sorry, Belial) or scary evil sorcerer. It won't be long before he's cackling, rubbing his hands and summoning his minions. Actually he probably saves that stuff for super secret no girls allowed priesthood sessions.
From the Ernest L. Wilkinson Diaries: "ELW dreams he's spattered w/ grease. Hundreds steal his greasy pants."

I assure you as our goal is to turn all into demons no offense should be taken. However I am a demon and as a general policy I am offended by everything. We need more Sorcerors though. Not enough people who really work the Black Arts anymore. Mostly dabblers trying to be naughty....pathetic.

You should try the Nintendo Wii. Some of the games get me so worked up I have to take my jacket off because I'll overheat. Furthermore, it is quite a social activity. It seems at least as good as playing Monopoly with the family. Besides, it's been raining lately. Who wants to play outside in that?
Next summer though, I plan to go kayaking often with my bro since he moved here.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO
We have eyetoy and that thing is fun. I work up a sweat and my kids used to get mad at me because I hogged it all the time. So we got two of them and I have my own now. :)

I almost bowled a perfect game in Wii Sports. Asmodeus pushed me over on the 10th frame to cost me the win.
Rollo Tomasi wrote:Here's another juicy one from GC, as reported in today's Trib:
Apostle Dallin H. Oaks urged Mormon parents to limit their children's extracurricular activities.
"Team sports and technology toys like video games and the Internet are already winning away the time of our children and youth," Oaks said. "Some young men and women are skipping church youth activities or are unavailable for family time in order to participate in soccer leagues or to pursue various entertainments."
They are "amusing themselves to death," he said, "spiritual death."
You'd think the Church would get the message that if youth activities were not so damned boring, the kids might show up. Instead of being "amused to death," they are "bored to death" at Church.
I find this trend disturbing. What trend? The trend of our leaders to shrug off their stewardship and blame someone... anyone!... else for the problems with the youth in the church. I'm not always a fan of organized sports, but it's a fact that participation in organized sports has many beneficial attributes. If the church would get off its collective duff and spend some money to sponsor some teams in city rec leagues, they'd see many youth having positive experiences with the church.
Damning soccer leagues as detrimental to the development of modern youth only shows just how out of touch with reality in 2007 our leaders really are. Anything that gets the youth out from in front of the television is a GOOD thing! My message to Elder Oaks: Put up, or shut the hell up, Elder Oaks. All this talk did was show your age. Lead, for Pete's sake! This isn't the 50's anymore, and these youth aren't like your children were. 'Cause right now, you're so out of touch, you're an embarrassment.

Not to mention the fact that now many games are available that require exercise, like the Wii games or Dance Dance Revolution. I also have a Yourself Fitness game that makes up a personal work out program for you complete with a personal trainer.
DH also recently heard of a contraption that forces a player to exercise no matter what game (s)he is playing. It's a stepper that you hook up to your controller to power it, so you need to constantly be working out to be able to play the game. I don't think it's come out yet, but he got inspired, went out and bought a stepper and now uses it while playing his normal shooters, strategies and RPGs.
