Do LDS believe they're the one true church on the face of the earth?

That being said, however, what Church doesn't believe that theirs is the most correct church?

I think there is a difference between, "most correct," and, "the one and only true church upon the Earth, with the power of God, directed by Jesus Christ himself." Ya know? ;-)

That being said, much of the world doesn't believe in a "one and only true church" idea at all.

Don't some of the more mainstream religions such as Catholicism, Lutherens, Baptists, etc. feel this way, though? I could be wrong.

Catholics do though in a looser sense than the LDS. That the LDS is an open faith thinking they have some of the pieces is pretty crazy. If I believed the puzzle piece theory I'd join every faith for a few years and cycle:

Maybe you should enlighten Elder Beck.

In other words, the Catholics honor the baptism of Lutherns, and Methodists honor the baptism of Catholics, etc. etc.

Last I heard no mainstream religion honors as valid the LDS baptism.

I could be wrong but this is what I have been told by various folks in these religions.

I'm a member of the Christian Church (Discples of Christ) (http://www.disciples.org).

At the end of services, when we have the call to discipleship, if a person wants to join the church, the pastor asks if the person believes that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. We take transfers by either letter or statement of faith.

That's about it. In my particular church, we have people that were Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc.

I would like an update from the big fella on this one(God not GBH) -- the church today is distorted shadow of what it once was..

Kevin Christensen has posted some interesting thoughts on D&C 1 in the past on potential ways of interpreting (other than the classical “only true church”) the verses that the “doctrine” is derived from.

I am not sure all main stream churches refuse LDS baptism but some large ones have said they do not.

And certainly the LDS Church recognizes no other baptism for any religion.

I thought you were joking with that poll until I read the thread.

OMG, there's no question about this. I mean, they have a meeting once a month dedicated to people getting up and imparting that exact sentiment. There's no gray area here. They think it is the one true church, plain and simple.

I found a transcript of this morning's GMA interview with Diane Sawyer, and here's the excerpt where Glenn Beck talks about "one true" and puzzle pieces:

GLENN BECK: Here's what -- here's the way -- Mormons believe on other faiths. And I think we should all kind of adopt this kind of a view. We all have puzzle pieces. And if everybody would stop guarding their one puzzle piece and say this is the only true picture, we would be a lot better off.

Maybe what he meant to say was, "And if everybody else would stop guarding their one puzzle piece and say this is the only true picture, we would be a lot better off."
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.
