First, there is the complaint that the FARMS and BYU shcolars aren't really out in the world. Then you complain because he is invited to attend prestigious seminars and present his material to learned academicians.

You can't help yourself.

DCP is not sharing his apologia on those prestigious seminars, nor is he presenting his apologia to learned academicians.

It's all just a cover anyway for his real identity. Anyone thinks sitting all day in front of a computer bored stiff munching on whatever is available was his life? Think again.

He is as much a professor as the actor who played one on Gilligan's Island. For all we know, his computer mouse is made out of a coconut.

He very much is a real professor and occupies one of those highly habitable spaces offered to such employees at said university, complete with bookshelves and office hours.

With all due respect Schmo...it's an insult to compare DCP to Russell Johnson (a.k.a. Roy Hinckley a.k.a. The Professor). Couldn't you compare DCP to a more prestigious Professor, such as Professor Plum of Clue fame or Professor Moriarty, the iconic Sherlock Holmes villian?

It seems pretty clear to me that the Brethren and BYU have sanctioned his role as Chief Apologist. His academic career is really just a kind of "fake beard." His main professional activities in life are Mormon apologetics, plain and simple.

I have perceived his role to be that of an informal ambassador for the LDS Church. Just this summer, he is gearing up for a tour of the African Continent and perhaps Antarctica as well. He speaks well, is funny and graduated from a school other than BYU. Further, he can be counted on to come up with clever explanations.

I'm sure that will come as something of a surprise to his alma mater.

He got his bachelor's from BYU, but received his Ph.D. from UCLA.
