1. First, however, perhaps God should reign fire and brimstone down on all those hip, affluent, socially conscious liberals who saw to it that over 30 million of those poor Africans died needlessly of Maleria over the past 35 years or so. You may cease your great, swelling moral pose for the poor Dancer, before I lose my dinner.

2. This is too facile to be believed. Both your intellect and your imagination appear to be mental ghettos, devoid of substance or creativity.

You really need to knock off the rhetoric.

And, I have to wonder, what sort of God creates a plan where only those who have relatives and friends with a special power get healed? And the only folks who get the power are those men who believe in Joseph Smith?

Loran
The power to heal is exclusive to the Church yes, but the Lord heals who he will, and no one to my knowledge has claimed that healings do not occur outside the Church. The men who hold that special power are men who live the commandments of God to the best of their ability and observe their covenants.

Exclusive to the Church? Are you serious? In one virtual breath you say that the Lord heals who he will and in the next you say that men hold that special power.

Right.

None of the above explains the healing of non-LDS, Loran.

There is no contradiction. The Lord heals outside the Church for his own purposes, not the least of which is that he wants people to understand the healing can come from him, and to preserve the lives and health of some of his children for some purpose known to him. Priesthood power, the power to invoke and "call down the powers of heaven" to bless and heal, within the context of a true knowledge of the plan of salvation, is exclusive to the Church, as is the Gift of the Holy Ghost, which makes, if covenants are kept, the principle of revelation a continuous aspect of a person's life, which is unobtainable outside his Kingdom.

None of the above explains the healing of non-LDS, Loran.

I just did. God can do what he wants, that is not our call. Miracles, as Talmadge explained, are for the Saints, not for the world. They are to increase our faith in Jesus Christ and his Gospel, as well as to bless us and give us greater happiness in this life. What I'm saying then, is that miracles do occur outside the Church, but they are not fully understood or appreciated until one comes to a knowledge of the Restored Gospel, either in this life or the next.

I failed to mention, inexcusably, that "miracles" are also a feature of powers outside of the Priesthood, some of which are not at al well understood.

I thought he was referring to those who have the means to impact the poor and choose to live the good life instead. But I could be wrong about that. He may be simply beating on his one-note drum again.

Hi Loren,

Did you have any response other than your typically name calling? (sigh)

Seriously, can you ever actually make a point? Yeah, we all know you are great at name calling but it really doesn't make for interesting discussion. :-)

It takes evil--truly pitiable evil--to turn this mans love, concern, and compassion for another and his use of his Priesthood to bless and comfort, into a disreputable action and the person himself into a "blowhard".

Abject, Stygian evil.

Just to be clear... I honor anyone's love and care towards others. I'm just thinking it would be nice if those who have a special power to heal, could help out the world. There is a lot of suffering and the world could use all the help it can get.

What?

I do not think anyone here said anything about this man's "disreputable action"... not at all. I'm thrilled the girl is healed and glad their family has found comfort.

I just think these healers could assist the world... I'm sure there were quite a few others in the hospital who died.. maybe their lives could have been saved if those with healing power would have helped out.

An odd interpretation. It seems to me that there was nothing wrong with the blessing in and of itself. Rather, this fellow's trumpeting about his spiritual "accomplishments" is what transforms him into a "blowhard." I really see no need for the self-congratulatory email. The motivations seems to be little more than petty boastfulness.

With a title like "Mormon Blowhard", I thought your post would be about Coggins, GoodK!
