What happens with a worm's spirit when you cut it in half?

So what about grafting? What would have happened if Adam grafted a branch from the Tree of Life onto the Tree of Knowldge and visa-versa? What would the fruit of each be like?

If I recall correctly, it is possible to remove/cut off part of a tree/plant (like a branch) and get it to live on it's own if done properly. So if you cut off a branch of a peach tree and get the branch to live on it's own, did it get a new spirit? At what point does the new spirit enter the body? Does it make a difference if you GRAFT the branch to another tree instead? Say I cut off a branch of the peach tree, plant it properly so it grows to be it's own tree now. Now I do the same thing with an Apple Tree. Then I cut off a branch from both the new apple tree, and the new peach tree and either graft them to each other, or to the opposite tree. Are they sharing the same spirit? Are there multiple spirits involved in each tree? In the apple/peach hybrid cases, did it keep the apple tree spirit, the peach tree spirit or both? And are they sharing the same spirit from the original tree that the split offs were cut from?

I heard it's possible to graft an apple branch onto another tree and still get that branch to produce apples (I think I learned it in college). Anyone confirm this off-hand? And how would that make a difference assuming it is or is not true?


Regarding the whole tree of life thing....From what I've researched and pondered, I subscribe to the opinion that Adam/Eve were brought to the garden and partook of the tree of life in order to remain in their "immortal state" they were in at the time. After all, they were allowed to partake of it while they lived there, why wouldn't they? The reason God forbid them from taking it after the fall was to prevent them from continuing to live in such a state. I don't believe one bite would suddenly keep them immortal for eternity, but that it was more of a fountain of Youth type of thing. Thus God forbid them from continuing to eat from it so they would eventually die and not keep living forever in a fallen state. Death was sort of a blessing in that sense. The tree of life is what made them immortal in the first place...it was the act of not eating from the tree of life ANYMORE that made them directly subject to death, not partaking of the tree of knowledge. That is how I understand it.

So to answer the question...if they'd be grafted together, most likely the grafted branch would produce the fruit of it's original source or be assimilated into the new tree and it's fruit. The tree it was grafted on to would continue producing what it always had. If somehow you equally "mixed" the two to produce some freakish combination fruit, then Adam and Even would simultaneously gain "Knowledge" and continue getting their good health potion until God intervened to stop them from taking it anymore, after several hundred years of prohibition, they'd die. That's assuming one actually believes in a literal explanation of Genesis and having real trees and real fruit, etc...which I am not sure I actually believe. It makes more sense to be figurative and symbolic...but then Christians and Traditional Mormons would have a hissy-fit if we really started pushing Genesis having a lot of figurative descriptions.


But the whole grafting question in general is an interesting concept to consider on this subject.
