The cynical view is that the Democrats put them up to this to make sure Mitt Romney does not enter/re-enter the race for President. The normal population doesn't care about minor differences, to them he is LDS/FLDS... a Polygamist... as all Mormons are. If he decided to get back in the race for whatever reason every other question would be about Polygamy. He could not explain it away, we saw his clear and convincing explanation of Mormonism in his news conference already.

Either way, get these kids back to their parents. Enforce age laws on marriage. Enforce chile molestation laws. Other than that they have their beliefs and are free to practice them.

There are children who don't even know who their mothers and fathers are.
I saw an interview of some fathers whose children were taken from them (by Jeffs) and brought with their mothers to the Texas compound. These fathers were not allowed to see their children in Texas until they were taken away and put in temporary custody by the state, it has been four and five years.
I feel quite certain that if the cult was open and honest right up front there would not be this mess, but with a group lying, deceiving, and misleading law enforcement CPS was in a difficult position and didn't have much of a choice. Hard to go on a case by case basis when no one even knows whose children are whose, or who at least are lying about it.
What will happen now if the children are returned to the ranch (not returned to their parents because who knows where they are)? They will be taken to various other communities where they will continue to be brought up in this abusive and perverted environment. The group will become better at destroying documents, hiding, and evading the law.

the likley hood is that if the children go back home they will with court supervision which means a number of orders could be in place and removal could be instant if they violate the court order. They also need to read them the riot act just like at the smoot hearings over and over for years about what they are doing is wrong.
