I guess we should at least be glad that they didn't open a special sticky post inviting people to abuse Mike, then.

Wow. Very insightful call, A.I.. I'd forgotten about that. Both Reed and Seth were, to my mind, valuable MADB posters.
I hope some MADB mod reads your post here and scratches her chin. I personally like MADB, generally. But, moderatorial consistency doesn't seem to be an esteemed virtue there.

I totally respect Paul O. They should make him the editor of the FARMS Review.
Oh, man. I've unfailingly adored Paul O. ever since he taunted Dan Peterson with his 30" waist and and then bragged about wearing tiny Speedo swim trunks!

I mean, really. Why is this important?
Hi Harmony--
I can't think of a single external reason that might compel you to be personally invested in such things if you're just not.
Others of us do care, for various reasons, I suppose. Suffice it to say that it is important to those for whom it is important.
Nothing more.
Chris
I guess my point was too obscure, Chris.
In the grand scheme of things, or even in the internet scheme of things, we don't always get to do what we want to do. Seth wants to post on MAD (why is another issue altogether and probably would be an interesting thread); he can't. I realize he's been protected there, much moreso than many of the rest of us (some of whom were booted off for no reason whatsoever); now he's relegated to what many on MAD see as the peanut gallery, with all the rest of us banned folk. And Seth has swallowed that world view, hook, line and sinker. And now, he doesn't much like it. It feels... not nearly as cool as being one of the Protected, one of the Accepted By MAD People. Well, welcome to reality, Seth. It's where some of us have lived for several years, and lived quite nicely. We didn't petition for reinstatement; we didn't kiss apologist or mod ass. Personally, I hope you give them a Bronx finger wave and then walk away from MAD completely.

I didn't say that I was never going to return. Rather I said, "I may come back later if the moderation lightens up... but for the moment, I think I could better spend my time elsewhere." How is that a F-You post?

Interesting observation. In hind-sight, I suspect that they banned me and closed my account to prevent me from deleting my posts. I've heard that post deleting has happened in the past after bans, and made a mess of archived threads. This could explain the inconsistency with Nephi. Maybe the mods just didn't care if Nephi deleted his posts.

Yes, I'd say you are correct. I was thinking that the mods were just inconsistent in their policies, but I suspect they have a policy in place now that when there is the perceived threat that a poster might delete their posts--they lock them out. I'm sure they did not want to lose your past posts--its too bad we won't have your participation there in the future.
