Have a nice break. See you in about 3 days.

Shades, thank you for this refuge of free speech and open communication.

You're certainly welcome. Thanks to you too for your kind offer from last year; I sincerely regret that I was unable to take you up on it.

Remember that if you need to break the Mormonism habit but would like to stick around, there's always the Off-Topic forum to play in.

Happy trails 'till we meet again.

Very few people can say that. I can. I love my job. When you look forward to going to work, you know you're in a special minority. Work expands to fill the time necessary for diversion from unnecessary worry.

Bye, bye, Mercury! I didn't post for about a year and just recently started checking in again. I remember you from before, though!

A lot of what you said in your goodbye is how I feel, too!

Good luck.

I think a large majority of my attitude comes from my Idaho blood. Were kind of like the south before the civil war if Deseret ever had come into full nationhood.

What I'm saying is that Idahoans and Utah kind of get along. We get a great deal of our culture from Wyoming.

An independent mind is what I gained from leaving Mormonism. Unfortunately lately I am getting tired of the constant references to the religion by myself. I realized that I was giving myself the ability to talk about it even though I am getting more and more uncomfortable discussing it in person. If I were discussing it with a fellow exmormon in person as I did with a colleague recently in January, they generally have to be dissociated with the church.

My father was born in Idaho. So was my paternal grandmother, one of the central parental figures in my life. All I ever knew growing up was change. They, my paternal grandparents gave me a solid foundation to live on most of my life. It is the "take no BS" attitude from Idaho that I related to. This is a very subversive way of thinking in a Mormon context.

You will be back to release pent up frustration from your wife's chapel mentality. And I am not saying its her fault.

Try this and see if you get the same chapel reply I initially got from Lidia when she was still active:

Where do you think the garments originated?

Chapel response: "The garden of Eden".

See ya soon Merc.

Surprisingly she is rather defeatist about church lately. She doesn't even wear garments. She attends every sunday though.

My wife is Mormon the same way some catholics or any other religions are. Currently with my family they are running at a deficit. She does not pay the church at all for silly services rendered. The home teachers come by and I require their full mental engagement. I tell them how angry the process of indoctrinating children is and they laugh and smile as if I were insane. My wife hates confrontation and I don't blame her for that. My verbal skills have been honed from over two years talking with people leterally for eight hours a day solving tech crisis after crisis.

I would've made the separation process much quicker and cleaner for you. Sometimes I don't believe you ever were LDS because your description of the Church I belong to doesn't seem to match reality. But that's also typical of the very inactive.........

Conversely, neither do I believe you are LDS because you do not personify the average member who would never be the complete arrogant a$$hole you have been here and on other boards -and not just to the non believers, but to fellow believers.
