The Nehor wrote:When the rich man came to the Savior and found him in keeping with the commandments and then gave him one last command to follow the man went away sorrowing unable at that time to keep that commandment. If the Savior were more liberal he might have proposed less harsh terms or offered a more reasonable solution or perhaps pointed out that as he was keeping all the rest of God's commands this one was not that important.
He didn't. He let him go.
So again: Bye. If you ever feel you can live within the gospel's strictures you're welcome to come back. Until then, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Then include yourself, and everyone else, in your "Bye ...." sarcasm, because none of us can or will live a perfect life. Besides, the only "sin" for which the signingforsomething.com owner is being called to a court is daring to speak his mind on a legal issue and civil right.
You missed what I said earlier. Read what he said from the link you provided. According to it his stated goal was not just to oppose Prop 8 but to get the Church to oppose Prop 8:
"I will NOT cease my actions to stop them from supporting Proposition 8..."
Trying to usurp Priesthood keys is a SERIOUS offense in the Church.
I worry about myself when I think of being left out. The one comfort I have is that I try to live the Gospel and when an error I'm making comes to my attention from those who hold keys I at least acknowledge the error and usually try to correct it. Is that enough? To keep me in the Church, sure. Exaltation....I have a ways to go.
Let me ask you this. Do you think the Church has the right to expel someone who actively and publicly advocates premarital sex and uses his standing as a High Priest to give credibility to his teaching?

What strictures is he failing to live within?
The Nehor wrote:He is not obeying the covenants he made to enter the Church and shows no inclination to bring himself to do so.
What covenants is he breaking?
He is actively and publicly opposing the Church's teachings and using his Priesthood office to give his opposition credibility. This is breaking the Priesthood order he joined and seeking to take upon himself Priesthood keys he does no possess.
He is breaking his covenant to stand as a witness for the teachings of Christ revealed by modern Prophets and seeks to subvert their teaching to bring it into harmony with his views.

A member can oppose something, even something completely the opposite of the church's mandate on the subject. They just can't do it publically, and they can't try to convert others to their way of thinking.
I'm not saying he's getting what he deserves. I'm saying he shouldn't be surprised.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
On a side note based on the videos this guy is an idiot. Heck, he even admits it. He also derides the Church as a secretive organization filled with intrigue. What a dope. Why does he care if they excommunicate him. That's like belonging to a country club you later find out is actually a Communist guerilla society that plans to take out the U.S. government. You speak out against it yet somehow are annoyed when they tell you you're no longer welcome and that your membership is being withdrawn.
Also, the culture of fear he portrays is a joke. For the SCMC to scare the members into line you would think the Church would make sure that the members KNOW about this organization. Most have no idea. In fact I bet less then 5 members of my ward even know the name.
"We're organizing against the First Presidency" and he pretended he was plotting against the Church with an organization with code words. Then he's surprised that we want to excommunicate him. Then he admits he lied to manipulate the Church to try to get more people to go to his website. KICK HIM OUT!!!!

Listen to the second video! The guy is a loon. Scratch????

Isn't it a good thing that someone finally "fought the church" to change the priesthood ban??
The Brethren should not be above criticism. If they speak as men as often as apologists would like us to believe, then they should be held accountable for what they say AS INDIVIDUALS SPEAKING AS MEN, NOT AS PROPHETS!!!

God? The Prophet? The Apostles who hold the keys to make such a change?
Yes, I think it was a good thing.

You mean he gave the milk before the meat? (Which is just a nicer way to say lied)
No, in the video he says he wrote to Temple Presidents, Mission Presidents, and Seventies telling them he was forming an organization to oppose the First Presidency and then listed a series of code words they were using etc. He didn't say it but I get the impression he was pretending to try to recruit them. In any case he did this to try to get the Church to issue a letter to ignore this guy to increase web traffic to his website.
Again, I ask. Scratch, is that you?
