Yeah, I caught it, but apparently not fast enough!! ;)

Of course the faithful will point to - "for this issue.." .. as the out, in this deception..
When it suited them it was about a man and many women ..
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

The March 14, 1860, House Report promoting an anti-polygamy bill that singled out and persecuted Mormons:
"Whatever differences of opinion may exist as to whether marriage is a civil or canonical contract... the whole civilized world regards the marriage of one man to one woman as being alone authorized by the law of God, and that while the relationship of husband and wife exists, neither can be lawfully married to another person." Singling out the Latter-day Saints in Utah, the report criticized the "open and defiant license which, under the name of religion and latitudinous interpretation of our Constitution, has been given to this crime in one of our Territories."

Response to federal anti-polygamy law 1879:
It is a “shameless infraction of the Constitution of the United States.... We do not want them to force upon us that institution of monogamy”--Prophet John Taylor (JD 20:320)

The LDS Church has now paid it forward.

I think not. Were they requiring the US govt. to sanction plural marriages?

The gay community could take a page out of the Mormon history books.

The illegal and illicit polygamous marriages performed from the 1830s to 1920s are still referred to as marriages.

So why not call their unions marriage?

Russell Nelson made it very clear recently that any other form of "marriage" is essentially a man-made waste of time, which is exactly what gay couples wanted under the CA constitution.

Thanks for proving that there is no compelling reason for the state to recognize gay marriages.

WTF??? The LDS Church are the undisputed kings of erroneous information, from beginning to end.

Even in the latest Proposition 8 controversy, they pumped the public full of lies about homosexual marriage being taught to grade-schoolers, etc., echoes of their ERA campaign of lies about forced unisex bathrooms, etc.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

anyone hear about the press conference scheduled tomorrow in front of the LA temple on Santa Monica Blvd?

I just heard that it was at 2 pm and in protest of prop 8 passing. I'm not sure who organized it or any other details. I guess I'll just have to go check it out.

A lot of people, myself included, associate the advocacy and passage of such initiatives as Prop 8 and AZ Prop 102 with bigotry, fear-mongering, paranoia, and an irrational fear and loathing of gay people.

The LDS church played a very prominent and outspoken role in getting these initiatives passed, and I think it's entirely appropriate that those who view these initiatives as I do view the LDS church as supporting, and even embodying, bigotry, fear-mongering, paranoia, and irrational fear and loathing of a minority of their fellow citizens.

The church may well feel victimized if LDS missionaries and members are seen by a large portion of the general public as representatives of a bigoted church, but the church has only itself to blame for this. They made the bed, they will now sleep in it.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

There is no racism in US but a demand for it.

In 1978, when I was young and uncouth, I used to tell my sister, "I heard they gave you naggers the priesthood." I thought it was very clever at the time.
