You know Harm as much as you complain about this I must say I honestly do not see it where I live. Maybe it is because by far most are converts and it is quite a hodge podge of people. Sure we have transplants, like me, from the west. One of the local SPs and now Area 70 is a local convert. The other one that is in our stake was a former SP and now area 70 and yes he traces his lineage to Heber Kimball and Orson Whitney and as much as I like this person (you would too, he is a very soft and kind leader) he does embellish a bit much at times. But he is the only one I have ever heard bring it up. My wife is a convert and she is quite proud to be one of the first in her family line.
Maybe it is because I am a long way from the west living in the Northeast.

The funny thing is that most of the UTAH/ZION Mormons think of you as less since you do not live in the theocratic compound.
I find myself quite welcome in the theocratic compound. I find myself quite welcome in the SLC outpost as well. You know, relatives and such......
In the heart of homoland, California, prop 8 passes. In Utah, heart of Mormonland, prop 8 fails.
Was this due to no one out of state feeding it millions of dollars?
Were any dollars used to buy votes or were they used to get the message out?

The idea of one lineage of scofflaw ancestors currying more holy favor than my own lineage of scofflaw ancestors does seem far fetched.
