So you're suggesting that, if Grandma doesn't object, I shouldn't object, either. Right?

So goes proxy baptisms and endowments.. Right?
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

So you're saying, if I understand you correctly, that, if the dead don't object to proxy baptisms and endowments, their living relatives have no standing to object, either. Right?

Oh. So LDS did not contend that it was an act of love, caring and respect for dead Jewish people to baptise them into the CoJCoLDS? I see.

Actually I think that is your/ LDS position..

Isn't it yours?

Didn't you say that I had no standing in the Grandma/Wiccan matter?

By applying the LDS standard - yes you have no standing.

Personally, I find it a pure act of hubris to perform these rituals.. Whether Wiccan or LDS..

If you find it a pure act of hubris to pray or say masses or burn candles for the dead, don't do it.

And I'm the one that is playing dumb?

Like, there is no difference between praying for a dead person of another religion, and performing an act that makes them a member of your religion? And this too, given the history of forced conversions of Jews to various versions of Christianity?

Somewhere I saw a parody of this:

Two unfortunate parents in Utah are mourning the tragic death of their missionary son, murdered by a Mormon-hater (A note for the simple-minded: I deplore people who use violence against nice young men from Utah in white shirts. I don't want anyone to kill them. If any come my way I shall invite them in and feed them, and not even say anything against their religion. So there. But let me continue.)

A while after the funeral, they receive a card. It says "Dear Mr and Mrs X. We at the Salt Lake City Gay Pride chapter feel your loss. We thought you might like to know that following the performance of our customary sacred ceremony last night, your son was entered on our rolls as a homosexual. We did this because we thought this would be the best thing we could offer him."

Then some people say that they can't see why Mr and Mrs X. could possibly be offended.
