HE?? It is very sexist of you to assume that the next apostle God calls will be a man. Why do people always assume that god only wants men to be apostles and prophets?

Until God is able to open the minds of the Brethren, there will be no women apostles. Apostle is a priesthood calling; no priesthood, no priesthood calling.

Good try, though.

but in the old days (and this is THE restored church right?) they had female prophets. I say pick one by casting lots - talk about a revelation - revolution.

Well of course, Deborah was a very successful and beloved Prophetess but no one wants to mention her. Best to not read that part of the Bible or else the whole, "women can't have the priesthood," and, "restoration of all things," doesn't quite work.

In Gospel doctrine many years ago someone asked about prophetesses in the Bible. The teacher, of course, didn't know what to say. Fortunately, a faithful priesthood holder in the room explained it all away. The prophetesses in the Bible were the equivelent of today's temple workers. We have female temple workers, so there is no contradiction.

Amazing how that works. Prophetess = female temple worker. Something was obviously lost in the translation.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

They'll say that the only way to remain financially secure is to pay a faithful tithe.

The only way? I don't remember ever hearing this doctrine. I've always been under the impression that savings, wise investments, and staying out of debt are also part of the plan.

OMG, no one picked up on my little April Fool's joke...

I'm guessing there will be a talk to address the Prop 8 issue and the "win" for the family and I did hear there is going to be more accurate disclosure of member numbers... .

Yeah. Those three things are common sense, and any finance person will tell you that. It's like the fitness guru who sells weight loss pills. As long as you combine diet and excercise with them, they're guranteed to help you lose weight. Of course, you can also lose weight if you diet and excercise without buying the pill.

Me too (no fooling) for years.

However, I finally concluded that General Conference is really only inspiring to those that have forgotten what the previous conference was all about (and the one before that).

I honestly believe that the presidency is fully aware of the true history and the large gaping crack that the internet has made in perpetuating their 175 year whitewash campaign. I think they're out of ideas and their sincerity is a fraud.

I'll bet my CTR ring that, once again, no one is going to be talking about the sealed portion of the gold plates.

(ps - do I need to re-post this tomorrow so everyone takes me seriously?)

As preparation for conference, here is a fantastic talk given by brother Holland in January. Its also available on itunes for those who would like to watch it at work.

I suspect that fools will mock it while those who are spiritually aware will take the words of our leaders and the Holy Ghost will supply emphasis and inspiration in how to use them effectively. I predict that at least three things in my life will be improved.
