Thanks for letting me rant. I'm just heartbroken and angry today about this whole thing.
Wow. Just horrible. And yes I hope there is some special punishment for leaders like this.

Suddenly, I have a vague impression that antishock8 may not be entirely the type of guy I would prefer to bond with. Something to do with the life I choose to live, I suppose.
There was a time when that post would have surprised me coming from AS, but I have to admit it doesn't surprise me in the least today.
And no, the church isn't directly responsible for her death, but I don't like the culture of patriarchal power and blind worship afforded men in high ranking church positions because of this exact potential. If people were just a little more vigilant and wary, this sort of thing would less likely happen.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
Screw the love courts.. This Doctor should be reported to the AMA and any other licensing board that will listen - This guys ticket needs to be yanked..
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it. Nehor.. Nov 08, 2010

My friend knows his name, so when I see him again, I'll ask him if he's followed up.
John, I'm so sorry about your friend. This is heart-breaking.
And, in response to Antishock's post.....Yes, she did make her own decisions, but John did acknowledge that in his post. It's still sad and upsetting that a human life was wasted in this way.
And it does sound like this woman was at least partially manipulated. This Stake President/doctor knew that she was vulnerable, and used her to get what he wanted.
I certainly do hope that legal ramifications are sought on this monster through this girl's family. This man has no business practicing medicine.

I completely agree with you here, Schmo. Also, particularly in this woman's situation, she was looking for someone she could trust. We are taught to trust our leaders. Now, to Antishock's point, she should have used her common sense....but as an addict, I don't think she really had all of her faculties to do that.
No, I don't blame the church for this pointless and sad death
to an extent, I do. If the SP hadn't lied to himself for so long, under the pressure of the fanatical Mormon priesthood leadership, then he wouldn't have have slowly sealed off all his options for "enjoyment" until he got carried away taking advantage of a bad but fortuitous situation.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.
LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.
Made me remember one SP I knew, who was all over myself and a friend I had taken over to his house for a post mission (my friend's) discussion. He gave me the creeps and I thought his touchy/feely behaviour was really inappropriate in context. Not long after this he left his wife for another lady, with whom he had been having an affair. I guess someone could analyse the psychology involved in his behaviour in terms of religious authority...
