Re: Maklelan Contemplates A Lawsuit
I thought Mak was a lawyer. Maybe I have him mixed up with someone else.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I think you do. I've been to court several times, but never as a lawyer.

congratulations on Oxford Mak. That is pretty exciting. Be sure to take a picture of Bill's book in the library there.
I would not worry about paid church plane tickets. That's to come in the years ahead. See, the biggest reason why you will be a successful apologist is precisely for the fact that you're not really shooting for it right now. You've obviously got your head screwed on straight going to Oxford and all. You need a good 5-8 years finishing your degrees and getting established. Once you've got the cred, then you can basically make stuff off the top of your head and publish it in the Review or elsewhere in Mopologeticdom. MAD will hang on every word. You'll be The Man. Once you're The Man, the church/FARMS will then offer to pay for plane tickets for you to attend apologetic events or to do firesides.

Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.
LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Gadianton doesn't fantasize quite as extravagantly as his master does, but he's pretty good.

Scratch has a little crush on Mak, it seems!

One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

As Scratch has assured me that I'm a nobody multiple times and feels that I have a desperate need for affirmation I would like to point out the great kindness that he has done for me this day. I point to the following quote:
See that? Despite me only having a few articles in the public domain about LDS theology and none of them about Apologetics I am a KEY APOLOGIST.
I'd like to thank all the little people out there who made this glorious day possible.
Sigged.

"Surely he knows that DCP, The Nehor, Lamanite, and other key apologists..." -Scratch clarifying my status in apologetics
"I admit it; I'm a petty, petty man." -Some Schmo

If you deny that just admit that you hate God and DIE..
Given the context, I'd feel safe guessing this poster was referring to the spiritual death that denying God brings, in the poster's worldview.
If mak finds this upsetting, he should read some of Nehor's posts on this board! lol
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Yes, that is how I read it too. It's not a threat from one poster to another in this life but rather an expression of the person's religious beliefs about a presumed non-believer. The EV(?) poster thinks that Mormons aren't going to heaven (are against God and thus, will die as in, won't be in heaven) just as many Mormons believe they know the ultimate destiny of non-LDS people (they won't be in the CK).
It's not a physical threat. Just a theological belief.
What always appalls me is the seeming glee with which some believers contemplate the deaths of outsiders. You're not heaven-bound? Well, that makes my day.
Not.

Oh, yes, it's striking. Apparently the desire to be proven right, and to know that someone who scoffed at your beliefs now knows you were right all along, to his/her chagrin, is stronger than the desire to save fellow souls. To me, it underlines the tribal aspect of religion.

Can you see the arrogance of theis CARMist?
What is nice Mormon like Mak doing there?
Edited to add;
Wait I got my answer;
Maklelan
I don't know why I waste time on CARM, but I was over there this week and had a discussion with an individual that ended with the following statement:
Admit that you cannot stay away from absuridity so you can defend your own absurd theology.
It is fun.
