I am looking at starting a weekly podcast to discuss Mormonism and all things Mormon. To be successful, I need to have 4 to 5 others who are willing to put aside a little time each week, probably on Sunday evenings, to do a recorded conversation over Skype. I would like the pool of regulars to be big enough that one need not participate every single week, but small enough that listeners can get to know the speaker. You can participate regardless of your membership status, and you can use an alias if you want—although your stage name should be a “real” name.

If you could include some of MDB regulars & discuss some hot topics penned here, I'd love to listen and
participate.

I intend the podcast to be neither defensive nor attack based.
I think there's no reason why you couldn't walk the fine line of impartiality.

It is a great idea, if you can rotate enough people, I don't mind giving you a helping hand, but I don't think any of us here can invest whole bunch of Sundays. Major point would be your flexibility to record programs other weekdays if necessary.

I'm on Skype, and will be getting a webcam today. Not sure I'd have enough interest to discuss "all things Mormon" (maybe I could be persuaded), but maybe others on Skype might like to hook up sometime anway.

I have gathered some interest over on flak also.

I think a round table sort of discussion, that loosely follows a format, but has a rotating group of people would work out just fine. So "pulling a shift" one every few week should be great.

I enjoyed Norton's old podcasts for thechurchisnottrue.com. I also liked John Delhin's podcasts. In the past few weeks I have been getting ready for a trip to Walt Disney World at the end of the summer. I have been listening to some of the podcasts and these guys can go on and on about WDW, and their are at least 20 different versions. I got thinking again, why don't we do this for Mormonism? It could be fun, and I think a lot of the humor that sometimes gets lost in the posts would come out in the dialog.

In the next little while, we will set up a conference call on skype to start talking out the details and so we can see if there is any kind of verbal chemistry that emerges. If you are interested let me know and we can get you on. I am hoping to "go live" by mid June.

Hi there, John. I cannot be a regular participant, but I might be interested in turning up as a "guest speaker," or something of that nature, if the opportunity ever arose. I don't know if you'd want to do something like that, but I'd be interested.

You'd have more than few hits if this were to come to pass John. Plus it would hopefully confirm my suspicion that Scratch speaks like Darth Vader.

by the way John and Ray (and anyone else) you can add me as a skype contact just for kicks. I'm on quite a bit usually.

I have now set up a private yahoo group to continue the discussion and planning. If you would like to further participate in any capacity please either send PM me an email address or email me at johnjohnlarsen@yahoo.com.

Even if you are not comfortable with having your voice recorded, we still need an advisory board and assistance in other matters. If you feel like you would like to be an occasional "guest" please feel free to come along too.
