For so many years they have fashioned their defense around ill informed evangelicals who made spelling errors and annotation errors in their bibliographies. The problem is the new generation of critics. Brash, atheistic returned missionaries who are fully aware of the scriptures and the history of the Church. The FARMs machine has not yet retooled and they get caught just spouting the same old post-modern questioning of science and reason.

Bokovoy most definitely has the right idea. I hesitate to say that, since any praise coming from us is probably poison and actually hurts the poor guy. But, he mixes the sophistication of scholarship with real intellectual integrity and faith. I mean, I can disagree with whatever screwy crap this guy chooses to believe, but at least I can respect that he isn't going to pull a Wee Willy and try to bluff his way through when he knows it's dishonest. Bokovoy is the poster boy for Mopologetics' only viable future, I would bet.

I would agree up to a point. Peterson acknowledged that atheists represent the new challenge to Mopologetics. That much is true. But it seems to me that the Mopologists are refining their post-modern approach in such a way that they are now avoiding the pitfall of contradicting the inherently decentralized view of post-modern metaphysics by making Mormonism the center for their own convenience. At times, when I read Bokovoy, it is as if I am witnessing the reemergence of a kind of Jungian perspective, and scholarship is used to illustrate points of contact between traditions separated by much time and vast geography, but united in some kind of overarching truth. By being rather low-key about it, he also manages to avoid the Romantic excesses of the actually quite goofy Jungians.

I confess I find Bokovoy impressive, and I think his way of doing things is far more interesting and useful than the Mopologetic epicycles of Gardner, Gee, and Schryver.

Plus, I think he probably felt he needed to scramble away as hastily as possible in light of the revelation that a number of his BYU colleagues seriously dislike FARMS.

Or perhaps he's gearing up for another approach?

Thank you Brackite. With every passing minute that this total remains the same, MAD has paid a little more for its "mistake".
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Actually Scratch people do have other lives outside of the internet. Dan leaves and comes back. Bill leaves and comes back. That's just the way it is. And Scratch, you left and came back...

I think that bill lost it a little but like I said, who doesn't at times? Also, since you have pointed out that his outbursts do happen some what frequently and as you can see, he still returns, I think that he will return sooner than later.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.
