Re: DCP Calls for a Boycott of MDB
Any MAD poster dissuaded from posting here, who otherwise would have, should seriously consider the degree to which s/he is giving too much deference to the opinion of the dear professor. After all, he, himself, spent quite a lot of time here.

No, since we're so enlightened, let's call for a girlcott instead.
We're girlcotting their stupid board. Sweet!
And when we girlcott, we Dance. Girlcotting is way more fun than boycotting.

This isn't the first thread he's been in over there about this board, is it?
It seems like he can leave it, but he can't leave it alone.

It's not like anyone at this board has that problem.

Is there something inherently bad about being interested in one board or another? Why is this cited as something that is bad?

There's nothing wrong with being interested in another board. But that's hardly what I would call the fixation that many posters here have. It's almost as if a few posters glean some sort of bitter satisfaction from finding fault with the MA&D Board and -- ironically -- with feeling victimized by it.

Because, according to many folks, who prefer a simple world of "us" vs. "them," each and every person who posts predominately at one place or the other belongs to a certain team. This is not about which board a person prefers to post in and why. It is about the people themselves. And, if you like posting here, that means that you are most likely an awful apostate and generally bad human being, unless you are one of the few stalwart defenders of truth and righteousness with the requisite constitution to hold your fingers over your nose for hours at a time while typing refutations of all of the ghastly things said here.
If you think I am being sarcastic and expressing my disapproval of the kind of thinking that divides us all up in this simplistic fashion, you would be correct.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Again, what is wrong with being fixated? Is it some kind of drug that will kill you and your family? The MAD board is stupid and slanted. It is fun for this very reason.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke."He can leave it, but he can't leave it alone" is a popular saying amongst TBMs.
"We have taken up arms in defense of our liberty, our property, our wives, and our children; we are determined to preserve them, or die."
