If true, what else could stroke these oversized egos more than an official dictate to cease and desist from the top?
I was told that Schryver was essentially a "puppet" for the General Authorities. Remember how Will was boasting about obtaining access to the super-restricted portions of the Church's archives? Many of us wondered how he was able to do that, given his lack of credentials and his essentially amateur status as an apologist. According to one of my informants, Will was chosen to tackle the Book of Abraham problem, and his little theory about the cypher was crafted at the very upper echelons of Church leadership.
So, Dr Scratch, the cypher theory is the result of ecclesiasticals, those that claim inspiration ("revelation") from god? Not so omnipotent or omniscient, that god, if that lame theory is the best he can do.

They are downgrading the lobster and wild game buffet? Darn those building cost overruns!
Well, if Mr. Nomad Schryver's "calling and election" was made sure, then he would hold a special place within the Mormon culture. He would be jeopardizing his status if he disobeyed a directive from the Lord's anointed.

You really have to wonder if this is a kind of concession on the part of the apologists. Given all the excitement that was generated over Will's KEP presentation, you would think that the Mopologists would be operating at full strength---that they'd be chomping at the bit and unleashing attacks left and right. Instead, we've got both Will and DCP in full retreat, with Hamblin resurfacing in order to pop off a series of desperate and embarrassing posts.
How are we meant to interpret this? I can't help but think that this is a sign that the Brethren think that Will's puppet presentation had been a failure. Perhaps they still have a use for him and DCP, but I wonder if we'll at last see the full-on dismantling of FARMS that my informant predicted.

I always thought I simply didn't understand Scratch's sense of humor, but I just realized that I though this was funny because it's so ridiculous.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO

Why do you think it's "ridiculous," ABman? Certainly, *I* don't think it's any more ridiculous that something like, say, Zelph the White Lamanite, or Kolob.

And interesting that this comes about 3 weeks after Schryver took down the video of his KEP presentation from vimeo at 12:32:39 Tue Oct 26, 2010. Maybe he was instructed to take it down by the Brethren.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.... He took it down? I did not know that... How very, very interesting.
