Re: Ghosts?
Quas,
I don't believe in ghosts. I also don't believe in spirits. Is that disappointing?
Although, I'm not sure what happens after we die. I'll accept whatever it happens to be.
I don't see how believing in ghost/spirits is going to comfort me if a loved one passes away.

Ghosts = people freaking each other out, jumping at shadows.

I'm not a believer anymore, but it's sometimes fun to get caught up in the thrill of spookiness. . . as long as I get to control it! I'd love to go spend a night in a supposedly haunted hotel room or something. . . with a buddy of course, because I'm still a chicken sometimes!

Hey Z,
No, not disappointing at all. I used to be a definite non-believer. I had one or two unexplainable incidents that put all that in the "I don't know" category (along with just about everything else as I grow older). I am a skeptic, but an open minded one now.

Wait, really Z?? It wouldn't give you extra comfort believing your loved one that passed still exists?? And you might be able to see them again?Zeezrom wrote:I don't see how believing in ghost/spirits is going to comfort me if a loved one passes away.

I have no clue what the official LDS view on this is (or even if they have one). I've had a couple of experiences that make me think that there are such things, but I'm still not sure.
About 2 weeks before entering the MTC I thought that I was attacked by several of satan's angels. I thought this becuase my Elder's leader convinced me that satan was after me because I was going on a mission. Years later, I found out that that experience was actually an episode of sleep paralysis probably brought on by the stress of going on a mission. I've never experienced a ghost and the accounts of others' experiences seem to be VERY subjective to me. I reserve judgement on ghosts but lean heavily toward them as having an explanation other than a supernatural one.

Hi Mad (maybe saying Viking would sound better),
I'm glad that Satan's angels didn't drag you back to Hell with them (I once had an incidence of sleep paralysis, myself... very strange) . I'm not a Mormon so maybe that's why I'm unfamiliar with the term "Satan's Angels". We have Hell's Angels in the US, but that's a motorcycle gang :).
The experiences I had were both very convincing, but I was alone both times and have no corroboration. I have to admit that it may have been my mind playing tricks... I'll never know for sure. I was always very skeptical of other people's accounts of ghosts until I had my own. Now I'm a little kinder in my assessments.

I shared it once here before. Later on when I get home I'll look for a link.

Re: Ghosts?
I always thought it would be a great idea to make a television show that parodied this recent fad of "scientific" ghost shows. The first time I saw Ghost Adventures I was kind of bummed, because I really thought someone had beat me to the punch. Even so, it was depressing when I realized that it was actually being sold as something serious. Ghost Adventures is.....awful.

Molok, I agree 100%. I tried watching Ghost Adventures once or twice, but Zac strutting and posing throughout the show really put me off. I think it's aimed at the fourteen-year-old-girl audience.
