MST might be evidence that cognitive dissonance may possibly be sustained over an extended period of time.

Can any of the TBMs here provide evidence that MST is not in a state of decline?

Ah, the old Apologist gambit.

Like asking the critic to prove the Nephite civilization didn't exist.

Personally, I think MST is pure, internet chloroform. Apologies to Scratch, but this topic is the only thing that is even more sleep inducing.

Probably not.

Isn't the decline of websites usually measured by the number of hits they receive per day, or whatever, not by the rate which they post new material? Just saying.

I was questioning the goal to get lots of testimonies on a website. Why would a large number of testimonies be better than a small number? Why would ten be better than 2? I don't understand how quantity matters.

Now, if DCP's goal was to show how diverse testimonies can be, then maybe he has something. Or if MST was there to provide data for researchers looking at trends in modern Mormon beliefs, then yeah, he has something.

As it is, accumulating more testimonies is a complete waste of everyone's time. I know DCP is reading this so I hope it doesn't affect our future lunch meeting. I don't mean to make things uncomfortable, DCP. I hope we can look past our differences on MST. We haven't set a date, but I'm hopeful I can take him to The Purple Turtle very soon. Lunch is on me, DCP.

Thanks

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

I think it’s a deluge strategy, it’s meant to overwhelm people. “WOW! Look at all these scholars who are active Mormons! I’ll just go ahead and put everything back on the shelf.” Authority carries a lot of weight in the LDS world.
