He is unhinged. Just stay away from him. No contact at all with him is the way to go. I never thought I would say it, but....ban him.

Very, very weird vibes now.

I love the 'free speech' rule on this board. But this man is now showing himself to be so far from normality that I fear he may be dangerous in ways we cannot predict. He sounds like someone who has gone off his meds and is reaching some kind of crisis.

Anyway, I am very, very, glad that I have refrained from putting any in real life information in my posts.

My judgment will probably get the better of me and I'll eventually take the foe off since I hate to censor anyone, even the worst of the worst. But even a small bit of protest makes me feel better considering this bonehead wants to wreck the board for doing what every other website on the Net does, borrows, BORROWS!, pictures for the purpose of comedy or parody or to make some point. It's all in fun for godssakes. If they were being used in some money making endeavor I would understand, but I doubt anyone is lining their pockets.

I like how putting Joseph on ignore may make it more difficult for him to warn us before he notifies authors of copyright infringement and thus increases the chances of another board takedown. Can you still receive PMs from people on your foes list?

Yes you can get pm's from people on your foe list.

I find that surprising. In this case that works to our benefit, but in general I would like a way to block PMs. I don't plan on using it unless someone clutters up my inbox. I can easily ignore one or two messages and easily ignore threads or posts, but I don't want to have to wade through a ton of annoying spam PMs just to read some real ones.

ETA: Hey, why can't I add Dr. Shades, liz, or Harmony (admin and moderators) to my foes list?

So, If someone does use an image without permission - I shouldn't even try to make contact? Is that what you are saying here, don't waste my time?

Or is it 'check the foes list' and don't alert anyone on it, just the copyright owner?

Probably so they can post important board information such as:

"Board will be down for maintenance" or so that if a more restrictive board is using this technology "You are being warned for your behavior" type messages of general interest or importance to the board.

There's an old Lyndon Johnson quote about J.Edgar Hoover that "It's probably better to have him inside the tent p***ing out, than outside the tent p***ing in."
