They're not getting revelations and they're not so willing to lie about it as Joseph was (although they like to still foster the impression that they're having tea and crumpets with Jesus, but can't talk about it because it's "sacred" even though Joseph Smith talked about that kind of thing all the time).

They mostly rely on tradition and not rocking the boat and trying to keep their PR good. The church is a corporation now. Moving members to Missouri would disrupt the revenue stream. All that millennium stuff will always stay safely "in the future, but just around the corner!"

Maybe the chruch will be selling these condo's at high prices and they might only call retired Mormons to live there so it doesn't mess with how much tithing they take in. The church could make a huge profit out of this. I'm sure there are some retired Mormons that would pay a pretty penny for a place in Adam Ondi Ahmen.

It usually gets passed along with the covert missions to China, the Church building secret bomb shelters in preparation to save the saints before World War III, and the angel appearing in the back of the car to say it's too late now to get food storage.

I wouldn't worry much. It might be true for real this time but probably not.

Well I could maybe double check with this bishop but he did say he knows someone personally so it's not like second hand rumor from him. I guess it is a second hand rumor from me but we all know that I am trustworthy :)

The members of the church wish so bad their leaders can prophesy something... anything... just a little thing...

They want it so bad, they are willing to inflate the gossipy whisperings going around.

It's kind of sad they can't get their leaders to be like Elijah. Bring on the wood and soak it in water! Now, bring on the fire!!!!

PS-

Do I sound just like those bad guys in the Book of Mormon who say Christ is not coming and later get buried under a mile of dirt?

Oh yeah. Hinckley made a statement about economic recessions and 7 years fat/lean back in the late 90s. Members have tried to turn it into a prophecy, even though Hinckley specifically said it wasn't a prophecy (they're very careful now about not predicting anything except in vague ways, like fortune tellers).

Why not do it themselves? It's more fun.

They want it so bad, they are willing to inflate the gossipy whisperings going around.

How bout rereading the prophecies already given.

It's kind of sad they can't get their leaders to be like Elijah. Bring on the wood and soak it in water! Now, bring on the fire!!!!

That story was proof that that kind of thing doesn't work to satisfy anyone except Elijah who got in some good heckling.

A mall would definitely be better than houses. It could be, Mall Ondi Ahman.

Rambo wrote:Last weekend the Bishop of my parents ward was telling my Dad and I about how he knows someone personally that is starting construction work on at town in Adam Ondi Ahmen. He said that the chruch is preparing people to move there. He also mentioned that the church must know something about the last days more than the rest of us.

My first response was I should buy some land there right now and then sell it at inflated prices when Mormons want to move there. To bad I forgot that the church owns all the land there so I can't buy it. I then said ok I'll buy a house when they are for sale and then sell it at an inflated price. He said I couldn't do that because only church members that are invited will go to Adam Ondi Ahmen.

My Dad then said that he would retire there if the church called him to move. I said that he better hope there are a lot of golf courses in Adam Ondi Ahmen.

That kind of response freaking scrares me. I don't want my Dad and the rest of my family moving off to Missouri just because some guy that claims he speaks for god tells him to.

How stupid are we. How many members have left in their youth or early adulthood just by looking at what the church says and figuring out it is all made up. Many of us are just to busy trying to find ways to make this crap work when others are saying to themselves this just does not make sense. Why is Joseph always finding important sites that just happen to be where he is like Adam Ondi Ahmen, Zelph, etc. This is a huge sign of a guy who likes to make up stories. Why do most of us see this easily with people in our own lives but not with Joseph. The real hero's of church history are people like Joseph's father in law, but then Joseph was just a person in his own life, and not someone we all had pounded in our heads was supoosed to be a prophet.

That story is proof that some people will believe anything if it's written in the scriptures. It never happened.

Zeez, you have something here. A chain of lds-related mall food for the downtown hole-in-the-ground-that-ate-salt-lake's-history mall and visitor's centers across the country. To the patent office stat! Copyright the hell out of this!

My prophesy: Ahman-on-a-stick's will soon dot the earth!
