That's why I love to talk to Mormons around non-Mormons; if you bring up one of these things they start to squirm and want to deny what you are saying, but no they can't because their bat**** insane church really does teach them all that nonsense.

You sure know some lame Mormons. The ones I know are delighted to talk about those things. It's actually pretty hard to shut them up. Peculiar People and all. They don't know they're supposed to be ashamed... silly them.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

They'd better remove it from the endowment, then.[/quote]

It is still very much alive. I wouldn't say members are ashamed of it. I always thought it was one of the better ideas, but most member know how other Christains react to the idea so it tends to not be mentioned much. The things most members tend to be ashamed of is polygamy and the priesthood ban. We always hate when they come up in conversations.

Those Mormons don't exist. LDS are more than happy to talk about things they believe in public. That's why we have missionaries.

They will admit to being Christians, but if you bring up space gods

That I can understand. It's like bringing up another totally irrelevant subject -- like what pencils are made out of.

, polygamous prophets,

Nonsense. Mormons are happy to talk about this.

and blacks being evil in the pre-existence

We don't believe that, so why would we want to talk about it?

Apparently you didn't want to go and talk about it in public. So I guess these Mormons do exist.

Except in the case of Joseph Smith, for some reason. Mormons find it easier to throw Brigham Young et al under the bus.

With many comments like this, I am not sure how SB expects to be taken seriously.

These days, there's always someone out there who wishes to mock someone's religion. I guess to some its nice to relieve their own insecurities by mocking that which others hold so dear. I don't blame religionists, Mormons or not, to tread lightly in conversation when the tone turns to mocking. It ain't no fun to those who are mocked afterall.

I get to talk to my kids about this kinda stuff all the time--its easy to mock and deride others. Find out some personal stuff, go after them for it. Religions just one of those things.

Mormons by and large don't hold polygamy dear, or the priesthood ban. I suspect that most wish they had never happened.

I know, right?

For instance, I wish people would just leave the KKK alone. Sure, their beliefs are strange to most people, but they are sacred and personal beliefs, and I just don't think others have the right to mock what KKK members hold so dear. People can be so disrespectful, can't they?
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
