Correction. He initially selected the Milwaukee Bucks.
Unfortunately they traded him off to the Sacramento Kings. I guess he isn't that good.

Puzzling.. so a young LDS athlete could use Jimmer as a role model for pursuing his/her collegiate sports career instead of serving a mission.. "But MOM, I could be the next Jimmer!"zeezrom wrote:He has a different calling. His bro, Jesus sat down with him in the pre-existence and foreordained him to be a sports missionary. You know, the options are: service mission, sports mission, theology spreading mission.

I wonder how many Mormon moms would respond with, "show me you can commit yourself to basketball like Jimmer did and I'll let the mission slide, if that's what you want."
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Just remember the boy did not choose the team, they chose him.

Back in the day, Jesus was quite the defensive shot blocker.
Chiseled somewhere on that figurine are the words "Jesus said, "GET THAT WEAK SH*T OUTTA HERE!!".

Milwaukee is crossing their fingers hoping this decision does not come back and bite them in the butt. Guess it all depends upon Fredette's performance. He will certainly bring in the Mormon fans for the Kings.

Too bad he was lured by the riches of the sports world when he could have chosen the path of righteousness that few other truly faithful members have.
Such a shame.
I guess the Salt Lake City LDS church is being "mainstreamed".
So are you taking the position of a Mormon fundamentalist, or are you just mocking them?

The Kings took him to try to fix their team's poor attendance and television ratings. He'll most likely be starting next year.

*snort*
C'mon he is playing for the Kings.
Of all the teams he could have picked, I am surprised he did not go with the Mormon member owned Utah Jazz.
The Maloof family, who own the Sacramento Kings, among other business ventures owns a large casino, The Palms Casino Resort, in Las Vegas.
He got drafted. He didn't choose the team, they chose him.

Good grief, do you also look through the BYU alumni magazine to compare how many times the word "Jesus" appears compared to the word "university"? Maybe the prophet needs to point out in General Conference that our commitment to God and to the gospel is most accurately manifested in the number of times we say the word "God" or "Jesus" compared to the other words that we use. Perhaps then we could get our priorities straight.
And by the way, the word "God" explicitly occurs twice in the program. I know that doesn't really tip the scales, but it shows what you were listening for and what you obviously weren't listening for.
