I wish I'd spent the brain cells I just killed reading this on a few shots of whiskey instead. At least I'd have gotten a buzz out of the deal.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

God has people shot or beheaded? So much for free agency eh? Why isn't God doing anything about the U.S emperial war machine as it kills thousands in bombings and drone attacks across the globe? Righteous killing I suppose? God punishes those who advocate 'no religion'?
It is surprising that more people don't walk, but run away from organized religion as fast as their legs can carry them. Or, at least stay as far away from people with beliefs and attitudes like yours.
Bcspace, you need to get out, walk in a park and clear your mind from the garbled mess that clutters it all up.
cdowis just threw down an ultimatum on MDD that if the mods don't ban me for saying we should rebel against any God who commands genocide, then he's not going to participate over there anymore.

Nice. I wish I could read it.

Here, Zeez:

While I have great respect for your contributions on this forum, you continue to blaspheme my divine Father. I have made it known to the mods that either you go, or I will go. I cannot continue to participate in a forum which allows such perverse statements.
I will go now, and return only when I see that you are no longer a participant in the forum. This post has been edited by cdowis: 7 hours ago
Nackhadlow came to Chris's defense this morning:

Chris' statement was not intended to be one insulting or offensive. It was a valid expression of a logical perspective held by many - that they see no reason to love or revere a person who had done many of the things attributed to him in scripture - such as genocide - which appear (quite understandbly) to be revolting, uncaring, and cruel. That if such an individual were their earthly king, they would feel justified in rebelling against that individual. That such rulers who do such now are viewed as despots and criminals who need to be deposed and stopped.
Chris has shown to be one of the most congenial posters on this board - it just happens that he's also a critic of many faith-based claims. That doesn't make him a Bad Person.
In the course of this conversation, I don't see ANYTHING inherently wrong or mean spirited in what Christ has said. Making someone uncomfortable in their assertions by use of logic and rational comparison is part of good debate and discussion, IMHO. This post has been edited by nackhadlow: 48 minutes ago
I'm curious, Zeez. How would your friend differentiate between John Lennon being killed at 40 and Joseph Smith at 44? It seems a person who is looking for God's hand in either action is allowing their bias to make the call.
It seems best to see these as the actions of men acting in inhumane ways.

Doesn't Cdowis make the playground tantrum argument every once in a while? I seem to recall him saying something similar during a discussion on evolution.
